The Wall Street Journal editorial page has taken Sarah Palin to task for her overreaction to Michelle Obamas campaign against childhood obesity. This is not only notable by itself, but it has sparked similar criticism from other conservative sources. Its interesting that shes drawing this kind of fire from my fellow righties.
Palin, the Journal writes, sees a big government plot in Mrs. Obamas campaign. On her reality show, she served her family smores, saying, This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert.
The Journal editorial drew echoes from a couple of the writers over at Commentary magazines blog, Contentions, including former Bush staffer Peter Wehner, who pointed out that Palins hip-shooting reaction could undermine the case for smaller government.
Wehner: Mocking the First Lady and portraying her anti-obesity campaign as several steps on the Road to Serfdom is exactly the type of thing that will turn the public against the legitimate efforts by conservatives to rein in the reach and scope of government. Ms. Palin might consider this before she takes yet another unfair shot at Mrs. Obama.
A few days earlier, there was a shot from another writer at Contentions, Jonathan Tobin, who noted her gratingly defensive response to columnist Charles Krauthammers remark that her reality show appearances are unpresidential. Palins reaction: Oooh. Sorry that Im not so hoity-toity.
In Palins defense, Michelle Obama has gone much farther than merely urging parents to provide healthy food for their kids, as when she blurted out, We cant just leave it up to the parents. This isnt mentioned in The Journal editorial. Still, the point of the piece was valid: Palin overreacted, and in the process raised even more doubts among those (such as myself) who dont believe shes electable.

And the time people will donate to her election I will not give money, time, and or vote to anyone but Palin in 2012!
They're more concerned about Hostess & Yum! Brands, Inc quarterly figures than they are essential individual liberties & government intrusion.
“I want Sarah to run very badly.”
Ahem - what my client meant to say was, “I want very badly for Sarah to run.” Thank you.
Colonel, USAFR
I found Sarah’s remark on that wide load azzed wookie very funny and on point.
Anyone who plays her detractor is not conservative and needs outed, Mittchit ,Hucksmuck and Bushiesqushie are what is very wrong here.
You are exactly right. That one comment by Sarah Palin about Michelle Obama had infurated everyone. Now, lets actually discuss why it is bad that Michelle Obama has over 5Billion dollars to control out food and our lives!
Palin’s so irrelevant and unqualified that the left (Democrats and RINOs together) have to write article after article bashing her.
Kind of funny, actually.
lol....Well said, Doc !!!
LOL I love it how the leftist freaks call it an “Unfair shot” at Michelle My Belle..liberals always love telling people what to eat, what to say, what to wear, what to think..I will eat anything I darn well please..I LOVE smores, if I went camping with Sarah Palin I’d probably eat 10 of them because they are so good!
That’s one happy meal I’d stay away from LOL
No question Palin will have my vote if she runs and wins the nomination, but I question her ability to get beyond her catchphrase “common sense” answers to a lot of questions. There needs to be much more. Haven’t seen it yet and if every answer is sprinkled with common sense that is not explained, she will lose.
Just like in Alaska, Sarah will have to run against the Rats AND the GOP elites.
I am with you. If the GOP establish isn’t careful they are going to alienate the base so much as to guarantee an Obama win.
Ex Shell CEO, ‘Gas will be $5/gal. by 2012’.
Sarah Palin, “We should be energy independent and drill, drill, drill.’
Let’s see who wins. Got my money on Sarah.
Great. Another “I like Sarah Palin, but....” thread.
I'm sure she'll do her very best. (and win)
Lady Palin is the most liberal candidate on my list.
Pray for the Tea Party Congress
Simple simple question....
Look at Sarah Palin....
Look at Michelle Obama ....
Beween the two who the hell! obvious knows more about being fit and healthy?
I have never seen Michelle Obama on the cover of "Runners World" in tight spandex...(and never want too)
And the hit (pieces) just keep coming!
WussiRINOs favor michelle over Sarah? Not too surprising.
Yeah, is there a pattern here?
