Phoenix resident Maria Moldonado came to the United States three years ago. She was working at a restaurant and got fired after an immigration rade. Ms. Moldonano, a single mother, has been forced to move herself and her three children into a homeless shelter. "They treat us like crap her. We get cheap government food and are often cold."

Erin Cavallo, an undocument student in the Maricopa Community College District, lives in a storage area just outside of Phoenix. "I live in a box. It's uncomfortable, but I have to do what I need to in order to survive." Ms. Cavallo plans to finish her school work and wants to become a nurse, but is being prevented from doing so because of her immigration status.

The Mexican-American War in a Nutshell

This war was fought April 25, 1846 - February 2, 1848. The Americans won. Mexico lost big.

Involved was Antonio López de Santa Anna, who lost California, Arizona, and New Mexico for his country.

If only our politicians could understand this simple fact. But that would require a knowledge of history and a belief in "To the Victors Go the Spoils."

(Interestingly, that phrase was uttered by William March in 1831. Marcy was a a New York senator who was quoted as saying "They (Democrats) see nothing wrong in the rule that to the victor belong the spoils of the enemy." If it was good enough for Democrats in 1831, then it should be good enough for them today.)

They seem to be very confused. They come here speaking a European language, brought by a white country, and telling us they're "indigenous". Since when was Spanish culture native to north America and "here first"? I'd like to see some real "indigenous" people give them a smack down. Mexico treats their "indigenous" people FAR worse than the USA treats ours.

The nation of Mexico didn't exist before 1821. Arizona became US territory in 1847. 26 years isn't "long before". And it's not clear by what right post-independence Mexico laid claim to this territory after it's independence in the first place - the Spaniards didn't even control it, though they'd won parts of it from Native American tribes.

So get bent, Ms. Moldonado - the fact that Mexico laid claim to disputed territory that it couldn't control for 26 years doesn't mean you have some right to illegally infiltrate Arizona and steal benefits from the American taxpayer.
