Police have been sent to a Houston-area mall after some of the hundreds of shoppers apparently became unruly while they waited outside to buy new Nike Air Jordan shoes, officials said today.
The police were dispatched to Deerbrook Mall in the 20000 block of U.S. 59 in Humble about 6 a.m. Shoppers had lined up before dawn to buy the new-model shoes named for former basketball star Michael Jordan, officials said. Some of them appeared to be unruly.
Also today, Houston police were called to a disturbance as Air Jordans went on sale at the Northline Mall.
More than 500 people lined up outside the Deerbrook Mall. According to reports, so many people came out that a fight broke out when some were apparently trying to get ahead in line.
One shopper told Eyewitness News the new Air Jordans are on sale at Finish Line and Foot Locker and that is what they are all hoping to grab when stores open. It appears that everyone who was lined up inside the mall were all sent outside. Authorities are now blocking all entrances of the mall.
So far there are no reports of any injuries. Multiple Harris County sheriff's deputies and Precinct 4 deputies converged on the mall, trying to keep everyone in order

What do you mean old? My Russian wife is in central Russia now. They still take their own toilet paper with then wherever they go. When they can get it, the Russian toilet paper is like sandpaper even today. Comes in small, brown rolls. Go into a "public" restroom and an old lady will sell you one small sheet for a ruble (1/28th of a cent)
I would bet the farm that at least 1/2 of those people who are paying over a hundred dollars for TENNIS SHOES are on WELFARE
“..I wonder how many of those waiting to buy expensive shoes are on some form of public assistance?”
My $$ says ALL OF THEM!
I wonder why you have to wonder?
Linkie no workie!
LOL.
This is the reason I need to be armed. If they riot and kill each other over shoes, what will happen if we ever run into food shortages?
It's a year old story. I guess the Houston paper doesn't keep them active.
Your son is a genius!
Don’t ask me how this thread joined the undead thread category. I don’t know.
Maybe it’ll be a Christmas Eve Eve tradition. In any event, I was looking for these pictures (post 12 and 49) a couple of weeks ago. I knew I had seen them somewhere. And now - here they are.
I’m bookmarking them. Keyword: peskyamish
This is what the "O" voters call a "BUM RUSH".
I was behind a group of two people in the local supermarket today. One of them was saying how they waited in line for hours and purchased the new shoes, then promptly paid for their approx. $200 purchase with my tax dollars.
LOL. I had to take a second look at the starting date of this thread - interesting how they get resurrected like this.
