On Sunday night, after a weekend of wrangling, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) filed for cloture on the New START treaty, setting up a crucial Tuesday vote on whether to end debate. A final vote could come on Thursday. As Josh Rogin observes, keep an eye on Sen. Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) as the clock ticks...

Republicans are dumb if they allow this... The treaty could be approved with some good changes that Republicans want instead of tying our hands with this tripe that weak Democrats created...
The American People rejected Obama’s agenda all of it in NOV what don’t they get?
I believe the commies now need EIGHT RINOS to pass START..one commie is having surgery so it is 66 needed. Try 58 commies and lugar/bennett/snowe/collins plus corker types and they are very close to 66.

Corker was freaking RINO from the beginning. For the past three statewide elections we have had two conservatives splitting the vote against one RINO and we have been stuck with the RINO every time.

It is well past time to add a bit of Torpedo grass to the White House lawn
It grows mucho high - and roots go mucho deep for water
Let us see Meechelle and her Victory Mosque Garden ladies out there digging deep to remove the tough hardy Torpedo grass sod and topsoil - every few weeks!

Any young men or women considering the new US military should have a chat with some combat Vets and discuss sane alternatives now
Let the OpansyQueer bunch walk point....

I believe the magic number remains 67 -- it's 2/3 of the Senate, not 2/3 of those present and voting.
If they've lost a "Rat", they now need 10 'Pubbies. And I can't imagine that there are that many with a death wish.
Cloture is relatively meaningless here, as it only takes 60 votes to end debate, but it takes 67 votes to pass the treaty, assuming all the senators are in town.
I didn't either & my last vote for Liberal Lamar Alexander-RINO was for governor. It was common knowledge in the primaries that Corker was a fence sitter {Dem Enabler}.
So, you had rather have Jr. as our senator?
Two thirds of those present. “He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur;”
You mean “folding like a lawn chair” or “falling apart like a cheap suit”
Words McCain’s amendment would have stricken......
“Recognizing the existence of the interrelationship between strategic offensive arms and strategic defensive arms, that this interrelationship will become more important as strategic nuclear arms are reduced, and that current strategic defensive arms do not undermine the viability and effectiveness of the strategic offensive arms of the Parties”
We will not pursue missile defense under 0bama. We will not retaliate should a nuclear bomb or chem or bio go off here....
We can ‘withstand’ such an attack without defense, or whatever 0bama said.
The only thing you can surmise from the various takeovers, seizures and laws against IS THAT THEY WANT US DEAD.
Now we know why the Senate seats that could be seated immediately were so important..........
Where’s Manchin on this?
We’ll just have to elect a president in 2012 who’s got the balls to tell the Russians, “The deal is broken”, and go right about the business of building up our strategic defenses again.
I know of only one Republican who I would trust to do that. I just hope she runs.
The leftists are going to force the people to start voting from the rooftops if they continue to thwart the clear message expressed in the elections.
We're doing our best to work within the system, but we're down to one last 'box', and we're loathe to open it. I pray they don't make the people do that.
Probably at a Christmas party.
I guess that will be the point that Americans finally decide to revolt like our forefathers did.
/wry gallows humor
As of five days or so back.
Cheers!
When Ed Bryant ran there was no Sarah Palin/Tea Party dynamic in effect. How would he do today with those gale-force winds at his back? Given what the Tea Party did to Bennett in Utah I think the same thing could happen here.
