WASHINGTON — Cabinet secretaries, top congressional leaders and an exclusive group of senior U.S. officials are exempt from toughened new airport screening procedures when they fly commercially with government-sanctioned security details.
New heightened security procedures by the Transportation Security Administration, which require either a scan by a full-body detector or an intimate personal pat-down, have spurred passenger outrage in the lead-up to the Thanksgiving holiday airport crush.
The senior government officials can opt out of such measures if they fly accompanied by government security guards approved by the TSA. The agency would not explain why it makes these exceptions, but many of the exempted government officials have gone through several levels of security clearances, including FBI background checks.

Agree. I wrote two senators and our representative and got ZERO response. It took contacting the local GOP office to get something going. I am hopeful that my message has now been heard.
I also wrote four of the larger airlines. Two replied. Basically, it’s “we don’t do security; TSA does; check TSA.gov”. SOOOOO helpful.
I wrote some of the ticket sales companies (Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity) to let them know they wouldn’t be getting any of our revenue while this is going on. Zero.
I wrote the TSA. Got the canned answer “it’s for your security” and “check TSA.gov for more info”.
That whole TSA.gov web site line is really starting to PISS ME OFF. Have you looked at it? Full of lies and misinformation. What crap!

That’s the damn problem with a lot of these invasive laws/rules/regulations that are allowed to stand. The big wigs are exempted from the processes that the little person has to endure. If they had to stand in line, go throgh the same touchy/feely/scans, etc then we may see a different approach to some of this crap.

It looks like TSA is attracting the same type of cretins. Beck is talking today about efforts to Unionize these TSA people. It is going to get worse.
