Forty-seven years ago today, President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed while riding in a motorcade through Dallas with his wife, Jacqueline, and Texas officials.

I remember that day like it was yesterday.
Funny!......
I remember too.
JFK, for all his personal flaws, was the last anti-Communist, pro-defense Democrat President. He also believed tax cuts would stimulate the economy.
Who really cares anymore, other than a bunch of aging media types?
Is there still anyone out there who believes that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone?
Yes...check the other threads.
Did you hear this one?

His death ended all notion of conspiracy in the US, even the word has been changed (to co-conspiracy). And here we are...
When Oswald shot Kennedy, he was insane
But still we watch the re-runs again and again
We all sit glued while the killer takes aim
“Hey mom, there goes a piece of the President’s brain!”

You gotta be alder than me. I was a two year old toddler and don’t have any memory of it at all.
Another significant (and generally overlooked) event happened that same day: C.S. Lewis departed this silent planet.
Back then NBC had Chet and Dave, today we have Keith and Chrissie, and Larry and Rachel..gawd..
I was listening to radio coverage from Dallas station WFAA of the motorcade and Kennedy’s visit, which included the preparations for his lunch meeting at the Convention Center. The newscaster was describing the precautions taken on behalf of the President, that a random meal would be selected from those prepared, etc. and that security was enhanced at the Center. Shortly after 12:30 came the first report of explosions, possibly gunshots near the motorcade. A few minutes later were reports that the motorcade had sped to Parkland Hospital. Then came an unconfirmed report that the President had been shot in the head. I believe all this occurred before 1PM and before the national news broke on the event. Once we heard that he suffered a head shot, we knew he was probably dead...
It was a gut wrenching experience.
I was a young adult, living in Houston. I saw JFK in a motorcade in downtown Houston the evening before he was killed in Dallas. Although I was not very interested in politics, I was aware of Vice President Johnson’s reputation; and my first thought when I heard that JFK was shot — was that Johnson COULD have been behind it. That was my first instinct; an honest response. On second thought, I discounted it because I didn’t want to think the worse of Johnson. My thinking now is that the force behind the assassination was either (1) the mafia or (2) Cuba. And that someone in the Secret Service was complicit.
Oswald murdered JFK.
After 40+ years of reading books on this subject, and most of the related actors - my long last conclusion is that this was a Mafia honor killing.
Oswald was involved only as a patsy.
