I and others have often posted that this country is being run by the lifetime appointed elitist mandarin bureacrats - the worst nightmare that can be envisioned - even by Kafka-—and let’s just see what would happen if their kingdom were threatened.

The nation’s security would be last on their list of priorities.

Cut welfare? You mean make non working able bodied adults work when they would rather not?

You are Heartless....

**** Breaking News: Obama Debt Panel Recommends Cut in Social Security Payments ****

And now we see why “The Core” actually wanted a Republican takeover of the Senate, as the already intended start of program cuts were to be blamed on a Republican controlled Congress.

.....Program cuts from which “The Core” is insulated.

The list is almost endless....

***************

I agree with your list of things to cut and would only add that closing the border and deporting illegals would save billions. We are supporting Mexico while cutting SS. It’s Bizarro World.

The issue for SS, is the funds being ransacked to be spent on other pet projects of congress.

Used to be. Now, even if Congress never again takes a penny, it’s under water, and will get far worse.

Everyone is trying to keep their sacred cows from moo-ing to keep them from being noticed and sent into the slaughterhouse.

This is fun to watch.

If you depend on government in any way for your income you should be worried as your cow might me next.

What is especially amusing is the producers in this country can’t pay for all of this.....and like spoiled children, all these government constituencies are crying like the babies they are because they’ve already stolen the last dollar out of daddy’s wallet and they can’t go for ice cream.

Maybe we should have a separate commission start from the other end - staff it with actual productive people in society, and start with the premise that we defund EVERYTHING in government and then decide what to add into a federal budget.

It would be interesting to see what overlaps.

DC would be better served if they stopped regulating our basic industries and food production so seniors didn’t need a raise...

"What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted — and you create a nation of law-breakers — and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

Yeah, that sounds really fair to senior citizens who paid in all of these years. Taxpayers have to honor the government’s ridiculous obligations, someway, somehow, and find a way out of this mess. I think privatization is the answer but we can’t break promises that were made generations ago. I say we get rid of programs, like Medicaid. You know those people on Medicaid haven’t paid anything to get it, it shouldn’t even be labeled an entitlement because the recipients just sponge off taxpayers without giving anything back.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could simply press ‘Ctrl Alt Delete’ and start all over?

Next we will hear that this is why we need immigration reform to allow all illegals to become citizens so that they can pay into the social security system and save our retirements.

I would agree with you on cutting welfare, except half the military families are on welfare. Our politicians make sure illegals are taken care of, and federal employees are over paid, but they let our military families survive on WIC.

Just goes to show that as in his health care plan, the elderly, infirm and the ones who are unable to be used for his gain are not worth as much as others.

So I guess if the death panel doesn’t get you - starvation or the elements will when you can’t afford to eat or heat your home or be in your home.

This is an evil heartless man who needs to be removed from office. If the MSM had 1/10 the regard for the american people that they do for their hero zero he would never have been elected.

how about that $200 million a day boondoggle to India, that is going to be a flop, and of course he leaves the country who is about to nail his sorry ass to the cross.

In addition term limits for any elected critter to be limited to only 2 terms of 4 years max.

In addition limit the house and senate to only two sessions per year, two weeks in the spring and two weeks in the fall. We do not need full time blood suckers.

No pay and no retirement nor any kind of special treatment!

The statistics are now that 1 of 7 people are on food stamps. This will only make it worse. Tragically the elderly who have some sense of dignity (unlike illegals) will feel bad taking the food stamps.

If they verified that only Americans were getting assistance it would cut the problem drastically.
I bet that if they added the cost of giving drug tests to many of the americans it would cut out a large portion as well.

Imagine trying to get assistance in another country! Never happen. They would deport you in a heartbeat.

Our priorities as a nation are all screwed up thanks to Washington and the “progressives”.
We get what we deserve if we don’t hold Republicans feet to the fire now.

It had to end one of these days. Every deduction the fedgov views as a direct payment from them to you. For that matter every dollar you keep is viewed as a gift from the Fedgov.

Because the prospect of cities burning down is not something most politicians like to think about.

Welfare won’t be cut until there is no choice.

The link posted does not go directly to any article about social security or the debt commission. This is probably the intended link, but if so the title should conform to the article:

Hate to say this sir, but there is no money.

No money for SS, no money for the space program, no money for our little adventures overseas, no money for anything.

You say that you have been paying into the system for decades, and I am sure you have. But that money is gone. It was gone probably right after the deduction hit DC.

SS will be cut, it has to be. There is no money.

Retirement, for most of history, did not exist. My grandfather worked until he was 80, and my Dad had to retire at 69 (brain auerism). Both have always told me that you can't expect others to take care of you if you can take care of yourself. That is the place we are heading. Retirement, as it was in the last few decades, will not exist. The circumstances that made it exist can not last with a falling population.
