Airing right now...said the real unemployment is at 17.5%...showing tons of people with masters, bachelors, phd's, you name it...unemployed for 2 years...can't even get jobs at Target.
What’s your problem? You in any position to make demands? I’m sure not.
We will be hiring soon, but your mouth leaves me uninspired. Look elsewhere.
She played the meanest female I have ever seen in a movie. It was called “East of Eden”, and she played one mean ‘ole gal.
I really appreciated your post. I get so sick of FReepers saying the “young” deserve this because they voted for 0, or you shouldn’t have gone to college anyway because the trades are better. And then, as you said, there are those who blame the “out of work” for being out of work.
If you’ve won the employment lottery and your job hasn’t been affected then it’s easy to point figures, assign blame. But there are lots of good people in this country (who didn’t vote for 0, nor were “yuppies”)...and they are in a bad way.
Everybody’s been affected one way or another, your house value, your retirement savings, and for many their salaries or jobs. In our house, we managed to keep our jobs, but pay cuts came. My kid is a solid conservative and has a bachelors and masters. He has a job, but is underpaid, as is another guy I know who’s an engineering grad from GaTech. Companies are offering decreased salaries, because they can (supply and demand) and people snatch them up because at least it’s a job.
Anyhoo, just wanted to say thanks for the post...it was something that needed to be said!
It's kinda simple. Their college-educated children (i.e. children of the world that the upper middle class elites who run the media inhabit), are suffering, it's now a national issue. It's like I say about the drug war, if mandatory minimums and no plea deals affected the upper middle class it'd be over in two seconds.
Point taken. Thank you for the input.
I am actually thinking about what Rush said this week ‘At the end of the day, the Mainstream Media wants to save their own bacon.’
Certainly not fast food....EVERY fast food operation in Columbus seems to be overrun with illegal aliens.
Thank you. Hopefully, I can dodge the bullet but I see too many others I know who are either unemployed or underemployed even here where the economy isn’t nearly as bad as it is on the coasts or in the midwest. I’m not going to complain because I know so many that have it far, far worse.
Well, that made my day.
I’d LOL but it’d be the tinny giggle of aprehension and dread.
OK, you make a good point as well. Like Ayn Rand would say, I guess I’m going to have to check my premises!
Over here in Hilliard (Hilliard Rome Rd area) the employees are becoming much lighter skinned. I only hear Spanish at El Vaquero lately.
Ya need 60 Minutes on TaaVaa to tell ya unemployment is through the roof?
Maybe they want republicans in office when the crash hits. Who knows. I don't trust them or their motives.
>>>>Something is changing here.
>>I’m feeling it, too. I’m seeing on average, a couple of ‘when pigs fly’ stories a day.
There was a story yesterday from the Minneapolis Red Star that was flabbergasting, directly about Obama. I couldn’t believe they published it.
Here, found it:
Obama has been hiding his real agenda: Sounds far-fetched, but he’s the “Radical-in-Chief.”

It saddens me to see this happening to Americans, especially considering that it doesn’t need to be like this, and that much of it is on purpose.
You have my best wishes.
Today, I paid $2.72 a gallon at same station. A near doubling of the price, and yet, your right...nary a peep about it. What a HUGE surprise, right???
yah...that’s 2 years old...
Good point. I’ve a friend who is unemployed and has told me that he believes companies are not hiring because of DC. Companies are uncertain about the future so they are sitting on the sidelines. It may be anecdotal but he commented that the majority of responses he is getting, relating to positions he has applied for, are “the company has decided to not fill the position at this time or the vacancy has been cancelled”.
A professonal friend of mine, who works in the contract/temp/project placement business, has said the same. Companies are delaying or cancelling projects. Also companies are using temps. sparingly. She places contract/temp/project personnel at the mid to senior level in accounting.
Good post!
How is it that someone with a masters degree that can't figure out how to make money in a down economy?
Good times and bad nobody ever asked me for my degree. But then, I've never worked for anyone but myself.
