I think we should start the de-development with its proponent.
Mr. Holdren, first, you will no longer use fossils fuels. No more cars. No more electricity unless it is generated by human energy alone. No more heat, so gather together some leaves to sleep under on cold nights.
You will be walking or bicycling to work. You may only pump your tires by hand. Your house is being downsized. The main building will be torn down (by union workers, of course) Monday morning. You personally will be responsible for moving all important possession to your garage. No more than a one-car garage area may be used. If your garage is larger, you will share it with other de-developed persons from you office.
The clothing you wear must be made of materials grown in your neighborhood. It must be sewn by hand or a pedal power device.
All of your food must be grown in your neighborhood, as well, and fertilized organically.
No medicines may be used unless they come from local plants.
When you have finished this changeover, contact us. Of course, you can’t use the mail or internet to do this. Send a bicycle messenger. We will then let you know what phases 2, 3, and 4 of the project entail.
Your changeover must be accomplished by September 30th this year, otherwise you and your family will be banished to an unpopulated island in the Aleutians. Good luck! Waiting to hear from you soon.
