And you thought that a libtalker declaring a public space too sacred for God would be the dumbest quote from the Left on the Restoring Honor rally hosted by Glenn Beck. Michael Graham from Bostons WTKK posts a clip of Governor Deval Patrick responding to a question about the rally by noting first that its a free country and then that hes not terribly happy about that, either:

Throw Axelrod (he ran Patrick’s 2006 campaign) in and change that couple to a red diaper baby threesome.

Two things. First, there is a pause between thoughts and he switches back to the original question. From the context, he is refering to the fact that he wishes the rally weren’t at the Lincoln Memorial but it was. Second, any party that supports the current public education system and has an Ivy League educated first lady who says “Me and Barack” isn’t concerned about grammar and useage.

Trotsky worked side-by-side with Lenin. He was a very bright fellow, and part of the revolution from the beginning. After the revolution was ‘successful’, and power was consolidated, Trotsky and Stalin where rivals. Trotsky made the strategic error of making Stalin Secretary of the Communist Party. He thought that would get him out of the way, but just the opposite happen, as Stalin use the position to consolidate his power. As Secretary, he controlled communication, and over time secretly gained loyalty from the various players. By the time that Trotsky realized his mistake, it was too late! There was a big struggle, and Stalin was ruthless, murdering anyone who opposed him. Trotsky was forced to flee Russia, and eventually made his was to Mexico. He lived in exile for a while, trying to organize a comeback, but was assissinated with an axe into his skull.
That's the short story as I remember it now.

To be fair, I think he was saying it's a free country and that he wishes Beck's rally were held elsewhere. He's still a jackwagon but I don't for a minute believe he said he wishes America weren't a free country. I'm sure you are absolutely right, but in a sense that's even worse. This is a guy who could and would ban events like Beck's rally, and yet with his hand on his heart truly believe he was upholding "freedom" in doing so. He quite genuinely (I believe) cannot understand how good honest people could possibly object to his benevolent agenda.
The tyrranical nature of liberalism is not someone in a black cape twirling a moustouche and cackling. The danger is in being so sure of the righteousness of your own thoughts and agneda, that it follows that anyone who disagrees with you MUST be evil, stupid, crooked or worse.

If there are more of us then there are of them, can’t we just get to chasing these people out of here? Really?

(1) "pause" -
not really... only a split second (between 1:37 & 1:38 of the tape) for an "ahh" between "country." and "I wish"
(2) "he wishes the rally werent at the Lincoln Memorial" -
"weren't" is wrong tense for past event. See radio host's intro to clip: "Beck had his rally" "whether teapartiers belonged at the Lincoln Memorial." Also see interview question: "Are you trouble that it was there, when it was and where it was?"
(3) I was wrong in my transcription of his answer. It's even worse. He actually said:
"It's a free country. I wish it weren't, but it's a free country... "
He said "it's a free country" both before AND AFTER "I wish it weren't"... and all 3 verbs in the same tense and NOT IN THE PAST TENSE AS THE RALLY - See (2).
To comment on the "rally was at the LM" requires "I wish it wasn't"... NOT "I wish it weren't."
To comment on "it's a free country" requires "I wish it weren't."

The same for any state sovereignty or secession movement.
Those seeking to escape the thumb of the left would do so peacefully, except that “people like this” would never allow people to escape them peacefully.

I'm sure he didn't (and doesn't) think it either. Unfortunately, his policies will lead to an unfree country just as surely as some conventional tyrant would.

Yeah and he selected, not elected, dead Red Ted Kennedy’s replacement to push through Obamacare as well.
This “people” thing doesn’t work out so well for him.

talking about the location, not the freedom. Maybe, but a freedom is a freedom. Any freedom lost is not acceptable.
