NYT: At Lincoln Memorial, a Call for Religious Rebirth (Crowd Estimate)
New York Sl/imes ^ | 8/28/2010 | KATE ZERNIKE and CARL HULSE

WASHINGTON — An enormous and impassioned crowd rallied at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, summoned by Glenn Beck, a conservative broadcaster who called for a religious rebirth in America at the site where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech 47 years ago to the day.

“Something that is beyond man is happening,” Mr. Beck said in opening the event as the crowd thronged near the memorial grounds. “America today begins to turn back to God.”

It was part religious revival, part history lecture, as Mr. Beck invoked the founding fathers and the “black-robed regiment” of pastors of the Revolutionary War and spoke of American exceptionalism.

-snip-

Officials do not make crowd estimates because they are unreliable and can be controversial, but event organizers put the number of attendees at 500,000; NBC News said it was closer to 300,000, but by any measure it was a large turnout. The crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument.

Ah do post the actual words the mormons sing... So we can compare the song to the Christian Bible...

Translation, please?

That video IS by Mormons - as are some of the others at the link.

Those are the words of the hymn, illustrated by Paintings done by Mormon artists (I found these when researching a painting as I am an artist)- the words are the same as printed in their hymnals.

I'm not sure what you mean. ARe you intimating that they even sing different words to the hymns they sing - to fool the public?

Is there no end to tearing each and every thing a Mormon does or says for hidden, dark meanings instead of just hearing what it?

I assumed you were sincere in your first question. If I had realized you weren't, but only looking for another reason to bash the LDS, I wouldn't have bothered.

I know I shouldn't snicker - but dang, that was funny - and a welcomed respite.

What do Mormon's refer to their young women as, in the afterlife?

In Mormon teaching, what determines what you are rewarded with in the afterlife?

:-)

“That verse was edited by Constantine and others. What Jesus originally said was, “ The I AM THAT I AM in each of you is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes unto the father except by my example”

Really, 300 years AFTER Christ, Constantine got hold of every one of thousands of manuscripts of that book of the Bible and edited them all???

Sorry, that is implausible.

I believe Jesus Christ knew EXACTLY what He was claiming.

Ummm, I don’t know. We are all children of God, so probably daughters of God. That would make us all brothers and sisters, so probably ‘sister’.

In answer to your second question, I would say we are rewarded based upon our obedience to Christ’s teachings and to the covenants we make with our Heavenly Father.

The first, original Christians were the “followers of the Christos”. Now there were those that branched off. But the term “catholic” w/a ‘small c’ meant ‘universal’. Then there were the different ‘rites’ or branches.

There were the Latin-Rite, (or Roman Catholic, Church of Rome) the Coptic-Rite (Egyptian), the Greek-Rite, Slavic (Eastern-Rite or Russian), Armenian-Rite, the Chaldeon-Rite(not sure of spelling on that), which is mostly located in Iraq, I think, and the Syrian-Rite. Many of those ‘rites’ were/are under the Church of Rome now, but keep their identity and liturgies, cultures, etc... Now if I don’t have the names right, or missed one, someone please let me know.

So in a sense, those could all claim to be ‘catholic’ or ‘universal’! There were all those branches. Then there were more: (Anglican Rite), and the Orthodox rites that came after the ‘Schism’. Then of course, were the various Protestant branches.

That’s absolutely right! People can argue from now until next year about the true faith. However, this isn’t the place for it, and that rally wasn’t the place for it, or the time. It was for true Americans who want to save their country together! Yeah!

The law is written on our hearts, I can join arms with anyone on affirming those truths.

But I will NOT link arms with someone who claims the name of God, but

-denies the Trinity
-claims that Jesus is the spiritual brother of Lucifer
-believes we can become a god

***It is a good thing the founding fathers of the 11 different state religions out of 13 states could fine common ground or we would never have a constitution!***

None of which:

-denied the Trinity
-thought Lucifer was the spiritual brother of Jesus
-thought they could become God
-believed in works righteousness

In other words Resty, they were all Trinitarians. They were all Christians.

God put His own breath in the human— not the dog, bird, or frog — into the human. This is a UNIVERSAL TRUTH.
_________________________________________________-

Ah kid not “UNIVERSAL TRUTH”

1. That limits God

2. God is Spirit...

exactly. and “The WAY” was what the early followers called the teachings of Jesus and what they lived.

It puzzles me that more people don't study about the Nicene Council and how and why the choosing - by man - of which books would make it into the ‘BIBLE” and which - among many that were used by Christ's followers for 300 years - would be burned.

And that would just scratch the surface of study.

Here's another truth, spelled out plainly in the BIBLE: It was James the Just, brother of Jesus, who was the head of the church after Jesus died. And after James was killed, in 62 AD, another blood relative, Simon (brother or cousin) was the head of the church. (The line of DAVID - per the law.)

It's written plainly in the BIBLE, yet few have ‘eyes to see.’

Is is NOT written in the BIBLE that Mary Magdalene was a whore. But she was so named and maligned right up until a few years ago.
