Miller concerned Murkowski will 'pull an Al Franken'

Joe Miller, the Republican candidate who is poised to knock off Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) in a primary contest, said Thursday he is concerned she will launch a protracted legal battle to save her seat.

Miller, an Iraq war veteran who received the backing of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), emerged from the election Tuesday night with a narrow lead over Murkowski, an incumbent who assumed the seat from her father.

But officials are still counting absentee ballots in the close race and a lawyer for the GOP Senate campaign committee is heading to Alaska to assist the senator.

"We are looking right now to make sure that the election - that the votes - are accounted for fairly, without any type of game play," Miller said in an interview on Fox Business Network. "It concerns us any time somebody lawyers up and tries to pull an Al Franken, if you will. We are very concerned that there may be some attempt here to skew the results."

are a bunch of lying, cheating, scummy, thugs who will do anything to keep their plush job, exhorbitant salary and to hell with the little people.

Who, by the way, are destroying our economy and our position as a global super-power.

It’s not a matter of someone else “Pulling an Al Franken”... it’s about Joe Miller NOT pulling a Norm Coleman and rolling over playing dead.
AMEN, Rodamala; AMEN!!! You are so right. But, I think Joe has more fire in his belly than Norm Coleman had.

But if she wins over Miller she will most definitely build a stronger case of resentment statewide against her and the family name. It will be her last term period, Alaska won’t support her for playing the Franken card, and THATS fer sure.
GOOD FOR THE PEOPLE OF ALASKA!!!

The best defense is a good offense, and Miller launched a good one. Immediately puts the NRSC on the defensive, as they’ll have to disclaim bad intentions, and it puts them on notice that they’re now under, and will remain under, intense scrutiny.

I agree with your anger, but your comment belies your name “no dems”. Your proposals could very well generate “more dems”.

Seems to me if Miller somehow loses in the recount, he should run Libertarian. He’s much more of a Libertarian than Murkowski is.

Sitting quitely by is what is wrong with the RNC to this point. Just my opinion.

Everyone needs to Read Westbrook's Post #61. I just called the NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee) at 202-675-6000 and told them to stay out of Alaska politics and that I would never vote for John Cornyn again. I let them know how outraged I am.
GET ON THE PHONE FREEPERS!!! CALL THEM TODAY (FRIDAY) AND RUIN THEIR WEEKEND.

Al Franken was not even funny as a comedian. Why would anyone think he would be any better as a senator? Oh, I guess comedy is a useful senatorial skill these days.

Below is a message I just left on John Cornyn's website contact form. And, once I post this, I'm calling the NRSC committee to tell them I am urging all friends and family NOT to support the NRSC with financial contributions, but rather to donate directly to whatever conservative candidate they wish to support.

_______________________

I am appalled that the National Republican Senate Campaign Committee is taking sides in the Alaska Republican primary for the sentate. And I'm doubly appalled that John Cornyn is associated in any way with that effort, much less that he's ostensibly the head of the NRSC.

I am a Texas voter, and I vote. This election season, I'm also motivated as I've never been in my entire life to wade into politics -- giving money, volunteering time, writing friends and family.

I am NOT going to support Republican efforts that mimick the corrupt practices of Democrats. And, believe me -- what the NRSC does in Alaska is having a huge effect on how I direct my political involvement in the coming months.

It is NOT cynicism to say that many, maybe most, Republican incumbants behave just as corruptly as Democrats. And, now John Cornyn is showing himself to be among their number.

"Murkowski is, allegedly, a Republican. Any sleazy tactics will be frowned upon."

If this were true, her father would still be Governor and Palin would still be a political appointee on the Alaska Energy Commission that nobody ever heard of.

In a close election, why do “found ballots” ALWAYS trend toward the liberal?

"I don't think you get it. Joe Miller isn't going there to "get along", neither is Mike Lee nor Rand Paul."

I get it!

Even if all of those candidates win and the GOP has a U.S. Senate Majority, it is still the REPUBLICAN PARTY in the drivers seat. Not the TEA PARTY.

You can dissagree with some measure of respect. If Miller first tried a 'behind the scenes' effort and it went nowhere, he could then go around them and make it public.

That is how Sara Palin handeled it in 2006. She was appointed by Governor Murkowski to the Alaska Energy Commission. She witnessed corruption. She said something to the Commissioner. He did nothing. She went to the Governor. He did nothing. She ran against the governor in the GOP Primary and won. She won the general Election and became Governor of Alaska.

That is how you do it!

"In a close election, why do “found ballots” ALWAYS trend toward the liberal? "

Because they are not classic liberal. They are just liberal with the truth!

"Maybe she should consider “pulling a Specter!”

From what I have heard, The Democrats don't like the Murkowski Family. They would rather run a Democrat Retread than her or her father on their ticket.

It is probably too late for that anyway.

Is anyone guarding the ballots?

NPR had a democrat saying that her sources indicate Mrukowski is planing on running as a libertarian if she loses the primary.
