Miller concerned Murkowski will 'pull an Al Franken'
The Hill ^ | 08/27/10 | Jordan Fabian

Joe Miller, the Republican candidate who is poised to knock off Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) in a primary contest, said Thursday he is concerned she will launch a protracted legal battle to save her seat.

Miller, an Iraq war veteran who received the backing of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), emerged from the election Tuesday night with a narrow lead over Murkowski, an incumbent who assumed the seat from her father.

But officials are still counting absentee ballots in the close race and a lawyer for the GOP Senate campaign committee is heading to Alaska to assist the senator.

"We are looking right now to make sure that the election - that the votes - are accounted for fairly, without any type of game play," Miller said in an interview on Fox Business Network. "It concerns us any time somebody lawyers up and tries to pull an Al Franken, if you will. We are very concerned that there may be some attempt here to skew the results."

Our message to the NRSC ...

We are OUTRAGED!!!

We feel so BETRAYED!!!

Just yesterday we gave what little we could spare to the NRSC.

And here you are helping the pro-abortion, pro-cap’n’trade, pro-socialist-medicine, pro-bailout Murkowski against a true conservative, an officer and a gentleman.

WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!

We are going to CONTEST our donation to you, even if it costs us more than the donation.

Not another DIME to the NRSC from us!!

We will donate directly to the candidates of our choice from now on.

With great disappointment,

Good for Miller. The United Stated will lose if Tea Party people give deference to thugs because they are in elected office.

Contempt for the American citizen by “elected” orficials like Al Franken is one of the root causes of the terrible predicament in which our nation finds itself. We must face the center of power honestly. Someone doesn’t deserve honor for stealing an election.

Yes but though Alaska has a large amount of libertarians they do not believe Lisa to be a proper representative, they see her for what she is and thats keeping in politics, there is nothing else in life for her to do, so I do think there will be some outside influence in trying to drag this finale out Franken style, but I do have more faith in it being here in Alaska where its usually done right.

We really don’t have a lot of corruption in politics, yes we do have people with money and influence but you have to or no business up here, and it requires a lot of luck at times to succeed in business...and politics.

So I hope this gets the MSM prime time coverage, it will only make Miller stronger and more recognizable of a name, his name could very well be talked about for a long time.

The GOP is so stupid. Joe Miller is exactly the kind of Senator the GOP needs. He is the type of legislator that Americans want! Murkowski is an example of everything that is wrong with the GOP and DC.

She is promising to bring her 1+ million to the libertarians if they put her on the ballot. Do you really have that much faith that they will hold strong to their principals.

I don't, but I sure hope your right.

If she does but I don’t she she will try it with the libertarians what it will do is just gather more support for the Alaska Independent Party, the AIP would then emerge stronger from disillusioned right and the middle part of Alaska. Alaska is conservative with a central leaning but reverts to being traditional Republican mostly due to the very strong military support we have here.

Joe Miller is exactly the representative I would have for my state of where I live which IS Alaska, if I were in Florida he would not have the same appeal, he is of rural Alaska, knows the people, knows the land, knows what the people need.

Its something that is very difficult to explain to someone who does not live here, Alaska is like living in two places, during the winter its a place thats barren, harsh, cruel but beautiful, the summer that is brief is alive and frenzied, people and businesses are in overtime mode all through a good summer, I often work 7 days a week with long hours during the summer.

Sorry for the little rant, long hours at work yesterday and its about time for me to do it again.

Local media won’t say anything because if its from Anchorage they will support Lisa, and otherwise the rest would be just rumors, its really all behind closed doors right now.

The only rumor I do hear and I think its just that is her going to an independent party, I do believe that the process expired back in june on that so she cannot use that as an option.

But if she wins over Miller she will most definitely build a stronger case of resentment statewide against her and the family name. It will be her last term period, Alaska won’t support her for playing the Franken card, and THATS fer sure.

“You are asking Miller to be passive while his opponent is obviously preparing to “Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war.””

I agree with your position, with one minor exception. When it comes to political hardball, the Stupid Party will “Cry Havoc and let slip the dumbest mutt in the pound.”

There is no need to cause problems for himself. The DEMs may still control the U.S. Senate even if he wins the general Election in November.

I don't think you get it. Joe Miller isn't going there to "get along", neither is Mike Lee nor Rand Paul. They are going to shake up the system and turn Washington on its head.

We didn't vote for unusual politicians just to get politics as ususal.

The Idiot Franken is a Democrat so we expect sleazy behavior. Murkowski is, allegedly, a Republican. Any sleazy tactics will be frowned upon. Maybe she should consider “pulling a Specter!”

"It concerns us any time somebody lawyers up and tries to pull an Al Franken, if you will. We are very concerned that there may be some attempt here to skew the results."

I don't think that Mr. Miller helps himself with these statements. He should have keep his concerns private while looking for help in making sure that the results are counted fairly.

Sorry, but I vehemently disagree with you. It's time that the complacent, American voter woke up and smelled the coffee and are made to know that the politicians they keep sending back to Washington, term after term, are a bunch of lying, cheating, scummy, thugs who will do anything to keep their plush job, exhorbitant salary and to hell with the little people.
YOU GO JOE!!! GIVE 'EM HELL. DON'T ROLL OVER FOR THEM.

Sheesh. Talk about RINOS in leadership. Now the Republican national party ruling class are acting just like ruling class Democrats, lawyering up when they don’t like the way things are going.
