I dont usually write about politics. Its important, but something I want no part of kind of like a raw sewage treatment facility. But frankly, I havent been this upset in a long time. And its due to the logic-hating, herd-mentality rhetoric that some have been flinging in opposition to the so-called Ground Zero Mosque. For the uninitiated, there are plans to construct an Islamic Community center in lower Manhattan. And, of course, lower Manhattan is where the World Trade Center stood before terrorists destroyed it, thereby murdering 3,000 Americans. I was working in New York City at the time. As was my father. As was my pregnant wife. I remember the day well. And the days that followed. I think most of all, I remember standing on the Staten Island Ferry, coming home with 200 other silent, reverent New Yorkers of every age, race, and religion, as we watched our city still smoldering a full week later. And it is with this backdrop that I can say to every politician spouting off and opposing the construction of this Islamic community center: Shut up. Go away. You hate America.
Im talking about people like professional political tumor, Newt Gingrich, and future worst President ever, Sarah Palin, who have both slammed supporters of the Islamic community center with rhetoric so flawed, Im afraid even linking to it might impair your computers higher functioning circuits. But its not just them. Due to the wave of misinformation being spread, apparently 68% of Americans also oppose the mosque.
How did this happen? Well, basically a complacent or a complicit media helped perpetuate three ideas that are either outright lies or intellectually dishonest arguments designed to bring out the very worst in all of us. And as you continue to hear themand you willtake out this column which you will have already printed and laminated, and recite thusly:
1. Its Not at Ground Zero The proposed structure is not on the hallowed ground of the former World Trade Center. Its at an abandoned and private building blocks away that used to be the Burlington Coat Factory. That means that if every one of the gs that Sarah Palin drops when shes talkin folksy were 10 by10 feet large, you could still stack over 120 of them from Ground Zero to this community center. Easy.
That sort of makes all the difference, doesnt it? I know, when I first heard they were building a mosque at Ground Zero, I literally said, What the fuck. Like out loud and everything. I didnt even pull a WTF despite years of writing for the Internet. Thats because for the last nine years, we New Yorkers have listened to countless proposals and plans and ideas of how to best rebuild the area while honoring the memories of those who died. And suddenly it seemed we were being told, Yep, its all decided. Mosque. We want a mosque here. Just feels right.
So yeah, of course, no one was on board. That just made no sense. What happened to that proposed waterfall and wall of names? Nothing happened. Because no one was ever building a mosque on that site. Its just a lie that was told to you by people who wanted you to be afraid, upset, and hurt. People who wanted to manipulate your tender emotions to inspire contempt for the government. Its about as intellectually dishonest as manipulating debate footage to make it appear that Drill, baby, drill is Sarah Palins stance on partial birth abortions. Its just wrong.
And to those who say that any location in lower Manhattan is too close for a Muslim structure, let me remind you that right now, in the shadow of what would be the former World Trade Center, theres a Halal Meat Hot Truck with a multi-denominational line that wraps around my building every day at lunch time. And Im positive thats owned by a Muslim. And Ive even suffered at his hands. (Spoiler alert: avoid the goat rhoti). Should he move a few more blocks away too? Of course, not. That would just be silly, right? Is it different? Why? Because mosques are religious and the 911 terrorists perverted Islam into something violent and hateful? Guess what? Those knights did the same thing to Christianity for the 300 years of the Crusades, and no ones saying that churches shouldnt be built anywhere in Europe.
2. Its Not Strictly A Mosque A mosque by definition is a purely religious structure. This is a large proposed community center, open to the public and set to house, among other things, a basketball court. Yes there will be a prayer space inside it as well, but you dont call St. Marys Hospital a church because it happens to have a chapel inside it, do you? Well, maybe you do. You read about politics on the Internet from a guy who claims not to write about politics, so maybe youre functionally illiterate. But the point is, you shouldnt.
But Islamic Community Center open to the public doesnt have the same ability to scare people the way mosque does. I mean, you hear mosque you think mosquito, you think STING! You hear mosque you think mask, you think DECEPTION! You hear community center you think OK. One more place Ill never go. So, yeah, clearly the decision was made by those who hate you to call this the Ground Zero Mosque even though its not at Ground Zero and not technically a mosque. Why are we still discussing this? Why havent you already asked Sarah Palin if shes the devil on her Twitter account? Oh, thats right. Because the devil is supposed to be good at lying.
3. You Cant Simultaneously Acknowledge A Right And Insist That Your Government Suppress It But the real reason Im writing is not just because of people like Sarah Palin, but because of shameful, spineless panderers like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Heres a statement from each of them designed to give the appearance of being tolerant while adhering to good old-fashioned common sense values:
From Sarah Palins Twitter Feed:
We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they?
And from Harry Reids spokesperson:
While respecting that Muslims have a First Amendment right to religious freedom, Reid thinks this mosque should be built some place else, his spokesman Jim Manley said Monday.
Let me make something clear. In order to make these statements you must hate two things: logic and America. There is NO way to say that an individual has a protected right to do something and simultaneously criticize your government for not suppressing the execution of that right. There is no way for President Obama or any other president to put a stumbling block in the way of the free exercise of religion without violating the sanctity of that freedom. Should I say it more simply? OK.
You cant legally stop people from obeying the law.
The Burlington Coat factory is private property. Those who want to build on it are private citizens. They are violating no law in wanting to build a community center. Under what authority do you propose we stop them? There is no unless youre a Muslim within X yards of a national tragedy exception to the free exercise of religion. Do the Gingrichs and Palins and Reids want to start a precedent where you can compel people not to exercise the freedoms guaranteed under our Constitution provided enough people dont like you?
And what are we saying to Muslims? That if they were good Americans they would willingly give up their rights? I cant think of anything less American than that? This is America. We do what we want. And all you have to do to have that right is be a citizen here. And if youre a traitor, well then we will prosecute you for treason and penalize you for taking up arms against the greatest country in the world, but we will NOT start curtailing your freedoms based on mere speculation fueled by lies about what youre building and where youre building it.
In the days following 911 it was very popular to say that we couldnt do anything differently in America or the terrorists would win. We cant stop driving gas guzzling cars. We cant stop supporting dictators in other parts of the world for financial or political gain. We cant vote for a Democrat. Most of that was rhetoric. Some of it was probably true. But one thing is definitely true: if we ask our leaders to start dishonoring the freedoms that make this country great, the terrorists surely will have won. And I dont want to see that. Because unlike those with power and influence who would lie to you, I love America.
“Its Not at Ground Zero The proposed structure is not on the hallowed ground of the former World Trade Center. Its at an abandoned and private building blocks away that used to be the Burlington Coat Factory. That means that if every one of the gs that Sarah Palin drops when shes talkin folksy were 10 by10 feet large, you could still stack over 120 of them from Ground Zero to this community center. Easy. That sort of makes all the difference, doesnt it?”
Why are the Islamicists so insistent that this mosque be built then?
The best way to debate the topic, you don’t like, is to debate it insisting that debate does not make sense.
Luckily the only thing that does not make any sense is such a debater, not a debate...
As long as Christians,Jews ,Buddhists, or even atheists may not openly profess their beliefs or gather in places of worship of their own in Saudi Arabia ,not one more mosque should be allowed to be built anywhere in the world.
Have you asked yourself, "And just why is that building abandoned?" Answer: It was damage by the falling debris on 9/11. Gee, I guess that sort of *does* make it part of Ground Zero.
didn’t parts of the plane like the engine fall on it?
This is not a multicultural issue....its far greater
Here in this issue, we get to see the power of Sharia. Cash coming in from Iran, Saudiland etc etc even Pakistan.
When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.
Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a religion, it is a cult. Larger than that though, it is a political system, it is its own government, its economic system (which includes funding new mosque construction), its judicial...is in its sharia, and its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.
This is not just a religion, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans Sharia rules are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes.
Islam is political, and its goal is to supplant and replace. Globally.
When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.
The sooner America learns this , the better.
Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils. He is doing nothing to protect America as per his oath. Also, as a Muslim, he knows this, he know far better, he knows sharia, but is looking to deceive America.

I thought I'd take them in turn?
1. Its Not at Ground Zero
Turns out this building is where the attack leader, Mohammad Atta, left a huge chunk of his plane including the landing gear and an engine. He also left the remains of the human beings the plane scooped up as it went through an office in the WTC.
In short THIS BUILDING IS GROUND ZERO. It's also still a building ~ the last big one that was damaged significantly in the raid. I don't know if these guys intend to just tear it down for souvenirs, but Fur Shur building a mosque on the site is in keeping with the oldest of Islamic traditions ~ the triumphal tower. Brings it inside the Dar al-Islam (Arabic: دار الإسلام) (literally 'house/abode of Islam') can refer to: Dar al-Islam, one of the divisions of the world in Islam.
2. Its Not Strictly A Mosque A mosque by definition is a purely religious structure
In consideration of the history of Islam, Mohammad himself advised the construction of a multi-purpose "community center" to serve as a place of prayer, edification and performance of charity.
The original mosque, called the Quba Mosque contains:
residential areas
offices
ablution facilities
shops
a library
They also give the prayer there, and you can come inside and pray. This is in Medina.
Did you notice how this sounds remarkably like the facility planned to replace the current building?
3. You Cant Simultaneously Acknowledge A Right And Insist That Your Government Suppress It
This is the rather convoluted argument the Moslems and their enablers are using to tell us that you can't say someone has a right and then criticize them for exercising it tastelessly and to the distress of others.
They slip that "government suppress" part in there just to trick you.
Moslems, like Leftwingtards, also like to dwell on the "hypocrisy" of others, and this argument about "inconsistency" is a rather ill disguised tossing of the "hypocrisy" charge.
It must be recalled that Mohammad said "Kill the Hypocrites". That's what this young man is telling you when he tosses this one ~ to wit: your criticism is worth the death penalty.
Anyway, these pukes are down to three main points. One is shift your attention from the fact that this is Ground Zero, the second that a mosque is just a place set aside for religion, and that third "I kill you" ~ just like our comedian buddy's little dead terrorist.
These people are totally transparent. They think no one here knows what they are up to or what they are doing.
The whole point of its rant is a long winded winding road of incoherent discombobulation seemingly to make a confused point, which in itself is pointless. Touche. Sort of like the Ed Anger rants from World Weekly News (remember that one too?)
Paging Mr Semmens, who does same on a regular basis here on FR :)

P.S. ... added a ‘humor’ note to the keywords
well maybe if my 34 year old nephew hadn’t posted it on Facebook as something worthy of reading I would agree with you. But I don’t. People read this stuff and this was not posted as comedy.
Please remove the humor tag - this is NOT humor.
Thanks
I don’t remember, but it would have to have been something substantial to close the store for this long. By the way, any time someone refers to it as a warehouse or factory, remind them that it was actually a *store*. Factory is just part of the name.
>> Article: And its due to the logic-hating, herd-mentality rhetoric
Up yours, you petulant scumbag!
See the big hole on the left. That's Ground Zero.
See the blue line? That's how far away it is. A little more than 500 feet. Ground Zero is more than 500 feet across. In other words, it would take longer to walk to the other side of ground zero than to the GZM.
Funny how he had it right the first time. Then bad information made him change his mind.
1. The building in question was damaged in the attack of the WTC. So much damage it wasn't repaired.
2. A mosque isnt is a community center.
3. The HATE of others is the only thing the left understands
I'm not defending what is written in it, but just pointing out that this is NOT a news or 'real' opinion piece, but an attempt at humor by a notorious humor magazine, and should be tagged as such
Your explanation is ridiculous. When I posted this thread, the last intention I had was for this to come in a tag search for humor or jokes.
