Friday August 13, 2010First Rush, then Coulter, and Now Glenn Beck ... Whats Happening?
Commentary by John-Henry Westen OReilly asked Beck, Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way? Beck replied, No, I don't, adding sarcastically, Will the gays come and get us? The Glenn Beck revelation comes on the heels of two other startling announcements by conservative celebrity pundits in the last couple of weeks. Earlier this week it was announced that conservative pundit Ann Coulter would headline a fundraiser for the homosexual activist group within the Republican Party, GOProud. And on July 29, although his position had been revealed before, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh again came out in favor of homosexual civil unions, while being opposed to same-sex marriage. To be fair, it must be pointed out that Beck said he was looking at the big picture and promoting faith, the answer to all such things. Moreover, he added that he was okay with gay marriage with a caveat. As long as we are not going down the road of Canada, where it now is a problem for churches to have free speech. If they can still say, hey, we oppose it, he said. But even to have suggested, as strongly as he did, that he was not opposed to gay marriage is detrimental and demonstrates a small picture approach. Beck seems like a good guy. Hes thoughtful. Hes right on many matters in the culture war. For instance, when OReilly followed up and asked if Beck thought abortion threatened the United States, Beck replied dramatically in the affirmative. Abortion is killing, its killing, youre killing someone, he said. So I thought itd be worth it to calmly and persuasively share concerns with Beck on his approach. He may not read my email, but Im sure if enough pro-family folks were to get the message to him, hed reconsider his outlook.

Sorry, it’s not a logical extension. By your reasoning, we couldn’t “oppress” thieves and murderers either.
What distinguishes queers and mormons from, say, pedophiles, islamofascist-goathumpers, mashers, and muggers, is that in the former, consent is freely given between adult parties. In the latter, consent is lacking by at least one party, that is, a party to the act is being victimized, beit the underaged, the goat, the raped,or the person robbed.
Now in the latter, the civil rights of the victims has been abused, and in the case of the goat, well, that’s just animal cruelty. The perpetrators are open
game for “oppression” by state, and rightly so.
Did Jesus tell her that he'd legalize adultery? Or did He tell her "Go and sin no more"?
Mem I have never heard of that gender.
/kidding at your typo
Take it up with the one who wants gays to marry.
Sandy01 said that not letting them marry is oppressing gays.
Following that to its logical end, you would have to allow people to marry their pets or multipple eives and husbands.
Following your previous example of consenting adults, you’d have to allow for bigamy and polygamy.
Bingo!
Thank you for the clarity!
And that goes for fornicators too.
Folks seem to forget that “hetro” sex outside of marraige is also not good for ones soul.
But is seems to be glanced over IMHO.
“Limit government, limit the scourges that government enables.”
Absolutely. Limit the govt and the people can associate or not as they please. That solves a LOT of problems that don’t need to be problems in the first place if the govt didn’t stick its huge, ignorant head where it doesn’t belong.
It is oppressing them. It is denying them rights based on what one group of people, christians, think is a sin.
Now, I have not called you names, yet you call me a liar? And I should get kicked off?
I have not used any scripture. I have simply relayed how Jesus behaved toward pharisees and sinners. I am the liar?
I am the name caller? Hey dude, I am at total peace with this issue. I know I will not hurl any stones at any sinner...not in my condition. When I can sop sinning, I will throw stones
Homosexuals are not being denied their rights. They have the SAME rights that I do, to marry anyone of the opposite sex. What they want are SPECIAL rights based on a behavior. That’s not a civil rights claim.
Some posters are focusing on the emotion instead of reality and fact.
If you’re at peace with this issue, why are you making such a big deal of it? When I’m at peace with something people are arguing about, I laugh at them, move on and don’t waste the energy.
Are they demanding special rights too?
Whatever...you simply have too hard of a heart to see the broken part of humanity that are the gays. I am broken, albiet in different ways than gays are. The alcoholic is broken, the liar is broken, the coveter is broken, the idolator is broken......we all are broken. But, only gays are singled out and punished. I just don’t see that helping them ever come to Christ. I think we are repelling lost souls by fighting against them. Jesus treated lepers as equals, prostitutes as equal, tax cheats as equals. That is how he won so many. I’m just saying.......
Our political system is efficient in that the political leadership generally reflects the underlying values of the populace.
We as social conservatives are for the nost part wasting our time and resources with the political process. At a certain point you call it the second dark ages, acknowledge that the end results are predictable, and strategize accordingly.
Even conservatives dont agree on everything. There is still room for healthy debate..and honestly, I believe that it is healthy to see and hear others viewpoints
I have no problem with the FReepers who disagree with me because I support Prop 8 and the courts overturning an election....my problem is with people like Beck, Coulter, and Rush...who have spent a lifetime pitching to conservatives....yet are not really conservative....and have dumped conservatism based on what (I believe) people at MS Fox News and the GOP have told them to do
Because I am concerned about divisions at a time when we need unity. I am not at peace with that pops;p
LOL.
This from the person who is calling evil good.
Only a fool would embrace sin.
I am aware of gay couples in my community.
And honestly I don’t embrace their life but I do respect them as fellow humans.
What I do notice is some of them are very good hearted God loving individuals and others are just plain dumb assess without much depth and don’t have a clue but are here trying to function by only the grace of God.
And this would be true even if you removed the Gay label.
No lady, you do. My brother is gay. I have seen the lifestyle up close and personal. It is deadly. Giving them special rights will not stop their sin nor save them from torment in this life or the next.
