"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York and the nation. "That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. Needless to say I don't appreciate it when some band of 7th century wannabees seize a city street in an ostentatious prayer event, and for whatever reason, blocks traffic, acts like fools on an airplane and terrorizes passengers, etc.

When we visited India in 1995, while touring the country, we saw people living in cemeteries, laying their clothes to dry on headstones (quite bizarre to see so many colorful clothing items in a place for the dead)—my husband (India native, now US citizen) told me way back then that they were Muslims who had no respect for Christian/Hindu beliefs. I remember being dumbfounded, and wondering what the Muslim reaction to someone NOT Muslim doing the same thing in a Muslim cemetery might be?

I don’t know the protocol and procedures for moving National treasures in the White House. But I do know their locations must be indexed and archived.

Was Obama signaling a message with that painting in his swearing in photo op? No one can dispute the oddness of putting it there for the photo op and then it vanishing a few days later from that spot...for whatever reason.
