Buck regrets disparaging Tea Partiers (CO Senate)
Politico ^ | 07/25/10 | David Cantanese

Insurgent Colorado Senate candidate Ken Buck is apologizing for a degrading remark he made about the Tea Party movement last month that was caught on tape by a Democratic tracker.

The Denver Post and 9News is expected to report Sunday night that Buck referred to the members of the Tea Party as "dumbasses" after a campaign event in Crowley, Colo. last month.

"Will you tell those dumbasses at the Tea Party to stop asking about birth certificates? Woah, I'm on camera. God, what am I supposed to do?," Buck says on the tape, according to his campaign.

Buck campaign spokesman Owen Loftus told POLITICO that the candidate spent Sunday explaining and apologizing for the remark in interviews with the state's two dominant news outlets.

"Ken points out he does gets frustrated at times with those individuals pushing those issues. He shouldn't have cussed. He regrets the remark. He was venting his frustration to a Democratic tracker and he shouldn't of," said Loftus.

Loftus said that Buck, whose candidacy has been fueled in part by Tea Party members uninspired by one-time GOP frontrunner Jane Norton, was aware he was speaking to a Democratic tracker and simply made a mistake. The birther issue has been a tricky one for Buck to navigate: While he signaled he would support legislation to ensure a presidential candidate has U.S. citizenship at a meet-and-greet in June, he has also stressed it is not a priority for his campaign.

Buck has been a phony all along. He just couldn’t keep up the facade for the final 2 weeks of the campaign. Tea Party darling showed he was a fraud.

“Once Palin endorses Norton, it’s going too be hard for Buck to win.”

I’m inclined to agree. Ken Buck is something of a gaffe machine. I’ve posted a few pro-Buck articles, but I may switch my alleagance. Although a Buck supporter, I never had anything against Jane Norton, who’s a satisfactory candidate.

Proves that Jane Norton is not a RINO. I may switch my alleagance from Buck to Norton.

If we really believe “we are a nation of laws, not men,” then the eligibility issue is PARAMOUNT.

Hard to say yet which one will win, but Buck didn’t help himself when he dissed Tancredo for advocating impeachment of the Kenyan.

So this issue is a pretty good litmus test of a person’s character, I think. The way they respond to the facts when they are presented says a lot about their epistemology and earnestness also.

Generally, I agree.

I'm willing to give Buck a break, because his comment wasn't really as much elitist or RINOish, as stupid.

However, I fear the damage is done.

How a person responds to the Obama eligibility issue reflects their true character, their commitment to truth and the rule of law.

I'm not opposed to people asking about it. I'm just saying play it when the time is right.

My hope is that he fears the Tea Party backlash enough that he will bother to LISTEN to why this matters - and brush up on some facts.

In response to the editorial at http://www.hutchnews.com/Editorialblogs/edit-congress-withdraw-endorsement—1 I sent the following letter to the editor, which summarizes the legal aspects of this issue, although Buck should also be aware of the lawlessness at every level of government, media, and law enforcement regarding this issue. Here’s what I said (minus identifying info):

Dear Editor:

I am requesting a correction to the editorial in which the Hutch News rescinded its endorsement for Mann for Congress because he is a “birther”.

The editorial almost entirely relies on an alleged fact that is totally inaccurate. Hawaii’s Secretary of State has never come forward with Obama’s birth certificate. That is just plain factually incorrect, and in accordance with journalistic ethics it should be corrected.

The fact of the matter is that nobody in Hawaii has released any of Obama’s documents (even though at this point Hawaii law REQUIRES them to release the documentation upon request) because they say they can’t release it without Obama’s consent.

And they have never confirmed the authenticity of the Factcheck COLB. In fact, Janice Okubo said in an e-mail to me that Hawaii law forbids her from even telling LAW ENFORCEMENT whether the Factcheck COLB is authentic, or a forgery. She says she cannot directly state anything that would reveal what is on a genuine BC.

What the Hawaii DOH HAS INDIRECTLYconfirmed via their official, legal responses to UIPA requests is that Obama’s birth certificate was amended sometime in 2006 when Obama was considering a 2008 run for the presidency (an amendment which must be noted on any genuine COLB but isn’t noted on Factcheck), AND that the certificate number and “date filed” on the Factcheck COLB are incompatible so that one or the other (or both) had to have been altered on the Factcheck COLB. IOW, The HDOH has indirectly confirmed that the Factcheck COLB is a forgery.

Furthermore, Hawaii law (HRS 338-17) says that an amended birth certificate is not prima facie evidence. The probative value of an amended BC is determined when it is presented as evidence to a judicial or administrative person or body. Until that happens the amended BC has no more legal weight than Monopoly money. Even if Nancy Pelosi or anybody within the DNC or Hawaii Democratic Party had ASKED to see Obama’s documents (which the HDOH confirms none of them ever has), they could not legally determine his birth facts because they are not administrative or judicial. Likewise, Chiyome Fukino could not make an announcement declaring what Obama’s birth facts are because there is no procedure whereby his birth certificate would be presented to her AS EVIDENCE.

The only way Obama’s birth facts could have been legally determined is if his BC had been presented to a SOS somewhere in the country in the process of placing his name on the ballot (as is allowable without his permission, according to the DOH Administrative Rules which Fukino illegally hid until a year after the election), or if Obama had presented his BC in any of the court cases he fought and the judge had ruled on its probative value.

Obama (aided by the illegal behavior of the Hawaii DOH) prevented either of those things from happening before Jan 20th - the deadline which the 20th Amendment gives for the president-elect to “qualify”. There is no way he could have qualified by then because the facts of his birth have never EVEN TO THIS DAY been legally determined - including his age, place of birth, and parentage (each of which could disqualify him from the presidency). Legally he HAS NO BIRTH FACTS. The process necessary to legally establish the facts of his birth has never happened - regardless of any certifications signed by the DNC or Congress, who are legislative rather than judicial or administrative and thus cannot fulfill the requirements of Hawaii law (which must be honored by the federal government, according to the Full Faith and Credit Clause of Article IV of the US Constitution).

Obama can not have qualified by January 20, 2009 because even his age was not legally determined by then (nor has it been legally determined YET). THAT is a fact.

The 20th Amendment says that if a president-elect “fails to qualify” by Jan 20th the vice-president-elect is to act as president until a president qualifies. Obama is Constitutionally disqualified from acting as president and having the presidential powers - regardless of whether he is the president, has been certified as the electoral winner by Congress, or has taken the oath of office. None of those things overrides the actual requirement of the 20th Amendment.

That also is a fact.

I’ve got full documentation for these things on my blog at http://butterdezillion.wordpress.com/2010/01/11/red-flags-in-hawaii-2/ .

I am requesting a correction of your statement that the Hawaii SOS has come forward with Obama’s birth certificate, which is factually incorrect. Even if she had, it would have no more legal value than Monopoly money - which is a point that the public also has a right to know. Unless you would like to print a follow-up article including the information above, I also ask you to print this letter.

I respectfully ask you to withhold my name, location, and phone number because I have received threats of rape on my blog from someone claiming to be in northern Kansas after I began posting on your online site. Please contact me to notify me of what you intend to print before printing. I would appreciate a response either way, telling me what actions you plan to take as a result of this new information brought to your attention.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
(redacted)

I disagree, while I believe he was probably born in the US and don’t need to see his BC, I certainly believe that other people have a right to see it. I don’t think it makes them crazy. The media wants YOU to believe they are crazy. They are comparing people that want to see a BC to people on the left that believe W blew up the twin towers...

They aren’t the same thing...

You may have a point on that. The time when anything will happen on this in CONGRESS would have to be after the dems lose the House and (Lord willing) Senate.

I would like it if something could happen on this in time to impact Lt Col Lakin’s court-martial. I’m also watching to see what happens with Pidgeon and Donofrio. I suspect that Obama will do whatever is necessary to appease the Chrysler dealers in order to prevent a Quo Warranto. There is always the possibility of a QW associated with the Healthcare Reform lawsuits.

But we have GOT to let the repubs and/or conservatives know that we are serious about the rule of law being the primary, critical issue that is the foundation of all the other crap we’ve got. If the public had a real LEGAL way to petition the government for a redress of grievances - including the grievance of having our laws broken by the crooks in Congress and the Administration - most of Obama’s “accomplishments” could never have happened, or at least not “stuck” legally.

We cannot afford to elect people who still think they have to dance to whatever tune the media plays. I fear that Scott Brown may be trying to woo the media, just like McCain has regularly sold out in order to be popular with the media. Instead of these people thinking that they HAVE to suck up to the media in order to be elected, they need to realize that it is a badge of honor to have the media trash you, because the media IS trash.

If we’re ever going to have a non-communist America we’re going to have to destroy the power of the leftist media to get away with lying to the ignorant masses who then elect whoever the media favors.

We have to let our leaders know that we can and will stand up to the media if we know they (the leader) will make the right stands - which will almost always be the opposite of what the media wants. We need to encourage them to believe that they can afford to stand with the people and not with the media.

These are very fundamental changes that need to happen if we’re going to have a system with any integrity. We need to be working diligently toward these ends because they aren’t going to happen overnight as soon as we elect a conservative. If Buck thinks he has to please the democratic media now he will not suddenly change his mind if he gets elected and lands in the middle of Corruption City.

Know what I mean?

Norton's not a RINO (the issues page on her webpage sounds fine). But the problem isn't that she's too liberal, the problem is that she's been a total cipher as Lt. Governor. I mean, here in Illinois, the Lt. Governor is a totally powerless office AND Rod Blagojevich gave Quinn nothing to do, but that didn't stop him from injecting himself into the headlines on a routine basis.

By contrast, Norton's so obscure that people are likely to confuse her with Gale Norton (who IS a looney RINO). Given the pro-GOP climate in 2010, Jane Norton would probably win the general election, but my guess is she'd continue to be an invisible backbencher in the Senate.

I can't say I'm too fond of either candidate at this point. Norton's a bland non-entity and Buck is a gaffe-machine that appears to be biting the hand that feeds him. Remembers me of those no-win scenarios for conservatives when it comes to the Texas Governor's race.

I might agree with you to some extent, but I find it just WONDERFUL that it gets under anybody's skin... Especially Damnocrats skin!!! (and a lot of RINO's skin too)

Wouldn't you be screaming at the top of your extremist lungs if they now let Schwartzegger invade our Whitehouse???

I know I would!!! As the Mayor of San Franpsycho said "It's gonna happen! That door's wide open now!!!" Can you just resign youself to that like you have to this???
