Mr. RANGEL introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services.
A BILL
To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.

Rangel has been flogging this dead horse for a long time. It’ll never go anywhere.
I believe in serving my country. My Daddy was drafted in 1956 and served 2 years in the army. It kind of shocked me when he said, over 20 years ago, that if he were drafted again at that thime, he probably wouldn’t serve. But, now, as our nation is currently composed and run, I can say with conviction that I could not, in good conscience, serve in a role OTHER than military service OUTSIDE the United States AGAINST a foreign enemy — and even then, I would refuse to serve under the banner of the UN or some other kind of international force where our sovereignty is subordinated to a secondary status.
I certainly would NOT serve in some trumped up civilian civil defense corp or ObamaCorp. No. NEVER. I will not be A stormtrooper for a would be dictator, be it Obama, or Clinton, or whomever. I will NOT violate or do violence to the Constitution. PERIOD. But I will rise in DEFENSE of the Constitution and fight AGAINST such “Corps” and dictators.
They dare not pass these monstrosities. These repeated injuries will eventually draw the blood they so desparately seek — and when it does, there will be no returning to the status quo.
He should concentrate on a bill whereby if you don’t pay your taxes on your condo in the carribean you go to jail. Whether you’re a congressman or not...
Just reading this bill makes the steam come out of my ears. Sounds like Rangel wants to re-enslave America.
And they want to take my daughter, and assign her to some ghetto head start center in Detroit? F-you Obama.

As a former Vista volunteer I have no problem with “serving”. But that was voluntary and that kind of services should remain voluntary.

Rangle was drafted and served with honor in Korea, Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, maybe he thinks it would be good for everyone. Actually, I would support it if there were no exemptions.

Not that that old “constitution thing” is looked at seriously anymore. But there isn’t even an exception for a military draft in the 13th amendment. That was found by the same progressive court in the Wilson Administration that also made it illegal to distribute anti-WWI handbills.
Yet another example of the slippery slope. The constitution is crystal clear on a topic. The court finds an exception saying that the draft isn’t involuntary because we “volunteered” collectively as a nation by declaring war. And now, 90 years later, the military draft is being spun into general forced community service.
A case study for the “living constitution”.
Let people in their late 20s through early 40s--and those over 42--do productive work and develop productive enterprises to move America forward again!!!!
Of course, the whole concept of "universal service" is nothing more than a scheme to create a Schutzstaffel (SS) under the personal command of the evil muslim dictator Barack Hussein obama.
And obama and his minions want to destroy America to make way for a global government. So the idea of productive work and enterprise to move America forward is just the opposite of what they want!!!!
