No, of course they weren’t slaves. They were just men being forced against their will, under pain of prison, to go perform work as directed. Don’t people realize, we are here to serve the state?

Only a fool would call that slavery, the progressive Wilson supreme court said so! Of course, that government also gave us the income tax, prohibition, the federal reserve, etc etc,,,really good company.

Involuntary servitude is involuntary servitude, whether by whip & ship or penalty for non-compliance by government edict. If a cause it just, true volunteers of their own volition will be in ample supply. My life is not the property of the state.
