PRINCETON, NJ -- In the past two years, Americans have become increasingly likely to describe the Democratic Party's views as "too liberal" (49%), and less likely to say its views are "about right" (38%). Americans' views of the Republican Party, on the other hand, have moderated slightly, with a dip in the percentage saying the GOP is too conservative from 43% last year to 40% today, and an increase in the percentage saying it is about right, from 34% to 41%.
The recent increase in perceptions of the Democratic Party as too liberal could be a response to the expansion in government spending since President Barack Obama took office, most notably regarding the economic stimulus and healthcare legislation.
The 49% of Americans who now believe the Democratic Party's views are too liberal is one percentage point below the 50% Gallup measured after the 1994 elections, the all-time high in the trend question first asked in 1992.
Since February 2008, the percentage calling the Democratic Party "too liberal" has increased by 12 points among independents and 8 points among Republicans, with little change among Democrats.
While significantly more Americans now view the Democratic Party as "too liberal" than "about right," the net result of the changes...

I don’t consider the Demonrat party too liberal; rather, I consider it too communist.
exactly and I would add...completely UN-AMERICAN.
Destroying us from within...they are no different than the terrorists trying to destroy us from the outside.
Both have the same goal...replace freedom and capitalism with tyranny...
To do that, they would have to repeal everything they've done thus far, remove the current congressional leadership and remove the president.
Ditto that. The Democrats started chasing off the 'liberals' 30 years ago. Today, they are hard core leftists, not liberals.
the scary part is seeing that two years ago half the population thought that the Democrats were not liberal enough!
Destroying us from within...they are no different than the terrorists trying to destroy us from the outside.

Precisely:
"The only way America will ever be defeated by death-worshipping theocrats who've crawled out from under a Dark Ages rock is with the help of the mullahs' fifth column - academia, the media, the judiciary, public education, Hollywood and the Democratic Party.
Of the two suicide cults America confronts, liberalism is by far the more lethal."

No kidding! “Too liberal” means communist.
I fully expect Gallup to offer polls friendlier to Democrats in crunch time
Gads! This is a Gallup poll. Imagine how bad the picture is for the Dems in Rasmussen.
The Democrat Party no longer exists.
We now have the Ubber-Elite Leftist/Progressive Party being co-opted/used by the Radical Anarchists and Special Interest groups they themselves use for power.
The question is, how many in the Progressive party agree with the Radical Anarchists and want bloodshed?
How can 6 percent of Republicans feel the Democrat Party is “too conservative”?
The real question is how do you hold the mushy middle on our side long enough to turn the tide back toward a Constitutional government?
“...The Democrats started chasing off the ‘liberals’ 30 years ago. Today, they are hard core leftists, not liberals.”
Precisely, exactly, correct, right on, etc.
“I dont consider the Demonrat party too liberal; rather, I consider it too communist.”
Since 2008 I’ve called it the “Democommie Party” on my blog:

This was long before it was cool to call it that :-)
It does now.
“The real question is how do you hold the mushy middle on our side long enough to turn the tide back toward a Constitutional government?”
Change the franchise so that only educated English speaking property owners and veterans can vote.
More Americans than in 2009 say Republican Party's views are about right
“...too communist...”
Ya think? Throw in Fascist too.
I've always had a problem with the property owner thing. The idea is a relic from an agrarian age that has long since past. It's ludicrous to assume that Cletus who owns a run down trailer on half an acre of near worthless land in the sticks is more vested in the country than the executive who rents a $500,000 a year apartment in New York City.
