This morning, Bob Beckel appeared on the Fox News Channel to comment upon Helen Thomas' recent rabidly anti-Semitic remarks about Israel and Jews. To my astonishment, Beckel defended Thomas' remarks as "part of the free speech we Americans enjoy." When asked if Thomas should be fired by Hearst, Beckel went on to say that that was up to Hearst, but that the First Amendment guaranteed her the right to slander Jews and Israel while she worked as Grand Dam of White House reporting/commentary. I don't know whether Beckel is also a Jew hater or that he is incapable of criticizing a fellow Liberal. Either way, his opinions are now officially worthless.
Even for Beckel, this was a stretch. I have emailed Beckel about this and await his reply.
” Hahha! I heard the professors debate about Committee on Style during the Clinton impeachment hearing. That was painful. Professor McDonald blew them out of the water. The transcripts I find on it fail to do him justice.”
I’m sorry I missed it.
” Sophist: Youre Big Oil, a secret agent of Halli-bourbon, and you want tax cuts for the rich. Oh and you work for BP.”
SJB to Sophist: You worship Alinsky, are in the tertiary stages of “terminal halitosis”, and own 7 cats. No wife, no children.”
The gist of McDonald’s remarks were simple — the Committee Of Style was painted by Lawrence Tribe, Alan Dershowitz [sic], and others as meaningless, that the words prior to Style had greater meaning. So the Constitution we look lack is not as important as an earlier draft.
But according to McDonald, the Committee Of Style was not just flowery poets. They helped refine the wording, and all of their changes had to be approved.
look lack? I need my own Committee I guess.
” Lawrence Tribe, Alan Dershowitz “
I have listened to these two blowhards too many times.
” If you look, they lack substance....you created an entirely new abbreviation !! ;-)
Did he defend Imus?
