The GOP needs to wake up fast before any more primaries! We're running too many candidates. Too many conservative candidates running in Illinois, they knock each other off and the RINO Mark Kirk wins. Too many candidates in Indiana, now we're stuck with RINO Coats. Someone stop the madness! As you mentioned, 60% voted against Coats. Oh, I'm pissed. Hostettler you suck.
SIX GOP candidates running for the same seat?? oh for pete’s sake, I give up with these morons.
Richard Behney 13,066
Dan Coats 120,161
John N. Hostettler 55,824
Marlin A. Stutzman 89,684
This is ridiculous. If 3 of the 4 conservative candidates had dropped out and endorsed the fourth, a conservative would have won. But, nope, too many cooks in the kitchen and we're stuck with Coats.
Fisher will be easier for Portman to defeat. Fisher is not only stupid and liberal, he’s slap eat up with ugly too.
Good point. I sure didn’t vote for Coats. I’ll force myself to support him in the general election, but I think he’s vulnerable to attacks as a carpetbagger and a Washington Insider who isn’t a real Hoosier.
But the GOP is mistaken if they think I am going to vote for Coats just because he's got an R next to his name.
The days of me holding my nose and saying "well, at least he's not the democrat commie" are over.
Dan Coats was endorsed by Mike Pence and James Dobson. Coats was a graduate of Wheaton College. Thus he played up his Evangelical background to win conservative votes.
Not too much drama in this part of Ohio.
Tonight’s the night of the establishment. Tomorrow’s headline will be the Tea Party is losing its grip.
Here either, though it looks as though Frau Brunner is done for, thank God.
Let's get our state back, and set it on the right track FOR ONCE!
“The low turnout does not look good either.”
That “low Turnout” is 3-5 times (And MORE in some places) than the Dem turnout, even for the competitive races.
Coats won because real conservatives split the conservative vote. But the turnout was poor. When I voted this morning, I was the only voter in the building. It shocked and dissapointed me, even though I got to work on time.
In the “Bloody Eighth” distict, the Tea Pary candidate almost won the Republican primary.
Back in 1992, Coats was the Commencement Speaker at Wheaton College. He spoke how his Christian faith helped him to make tough, but moral decisions on issues like abortion and fetal tissue research. I wonder if Coats will let his faith in Jesus guide him in the Senate or will he let the DC establishment do it?
Robust primaries are great, but this one was “too robust” after Coats entered because he’s more like an incumbent.
Coats chickened out of reelection in 1998, essesntially handing the seat to Evan Bayh. It’s ironic that the sudeen candidacy of Coats was one of the reasons that Bayh suddenly dropped out of the race this year.
Coats only won 39% in the primary, with Stutzman winning 30% and Hostettler winning 22%. Hostettler should have dropped out.
Here are some other Indiana primary results. Mike Sodrel was badly beaten in the Republican primary.

People in IN never surprise us; they are so predictable.
There are no runoffs outside the South unless once considers OK non-southern.
