Tancredo Says Arizona Law Goes Too Far Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), who crusaded for tough anti-immigration measures while in Congress, told KDVR-TV that while he supported the new immigration law in Arizona he thought it went too far.

Said Tancredo: "I do not want people here, there in Arizona, pulled over because you look like should be pulled over."

Said Tancredo: "I do not want people here, there in Arizona, pulled over because you look like should be pulled over."

Arizona has a problem and they have every right to act on it, especially when the FedGov won't....

But this is a SLIPPERY SLOPE here folks...if this interpretation of the law is indeed true. Stay vigilant, please!

Since they are committing a large portion of the crimes, I’m not sure how ‘cooperative’ they were in the first place.

It’s been known that drug runners behave in the same way.

% of supporters don’t mean sh-t since we don’t live in a mobocracy. The fact remains that while I and nearly everyone else on this site support the intent of this law, there are also those of us who know that it will be thrown out in court for being in violation of existing civil rights law and legal precedent.

I don’t understand how a law that is already on the books has to have another law passed in order to enforce it and how enforcing a law that is in the Constitution can be called going too far.

This idiot hasn’t even read the bill. It merely enforces the current federal laws. You get caught by speeding, wreckless driving and can’t show ID etc and there’s attrition through employment. You can’t hire illegals! They’ll leave automatically.

**Where does this law say people can be pulled over based on their looks?**

I hadn’t seen anything like that but, Democrats (Racists that they are) apparently believe that Skin Color equates to “PROBABLE CAUSE”

Waiting to hear it straight from Tancredo's mouth/fingers

I suspect that Tancredo has been taken out of context. This is entirely inconsistent with his stated position.

With this law, there will now be 200,000 people in Phoenix who will neither be willing to call the police for help, nor testify against any crimes they witness.

Remember Mao Ze Dong: "The people are the sea and the guerrillas are the fish that swim in the sea."

In this case the illegals are the sea in which the criminal illegals swim. Instead of hoping the non-criminal illegals will cooperate with the police, the answer is to dry up the sea. Deport them.

Then it’s up to the police to do their job with honesty and diligence.

It’s not up to the people of AZ to have to put up with intruders.
Possible dangerous intruders at that as has been well documented
by the rapes, murders, and drug gangs.

Let them throw the first fist. Let them cook their own goose.
Don’t fall for 0’s plans.

Tancredo goes trolling for some of that “strange new respect” in a vain effort to find his long-lost credibility.

[Where does this law say people can be pulled over based on their looks?]

You're right, it doesn't. No police force in the U.S. has time or manpower to go alien hunting. When Arizona police stop a suspect for probable cause—speeding, shoplifting, whatever—they can ascertain if the suspect is a citizen, green card visa holder, or an illegal. This law impacts the law-breaking illegal alien much more than the low profile illegal.

He'll be the conservative viewpoint on all the lib talking head shows this week.

"Even ultra-right wing conservatives are concerned about the unfairness and overt racism of the law. With us now is Tom Tancredo, who in the past has been virulently opposed to immigration, but says that even he can't support the Arizona law."

That the way it need to be; we have too many illegal running around doing illegal thing. Just take a look in Arizona; these goons are throwing stuff at law enforcement. We do not need comprehensive immigration reform; if you are here illegal you need to be deport immediately; no trial, no lawyer and no hearing. I don’t care who you are (hispanics, vietnamese, chinese); get out, no exception.

Since this law is basically copied word for word from the already existing FEDERAL laws, why would it be thrown out? Does that mean they’ll throw out the FEDERAL laws as well, leaving our country defenseless against illegal immigration?!?
