Said Tancredo: "I do not want people here, there in Arizona, pulled over because you look like should be pulled over."

Arizona has a problem and they have every right to act on it, especially when the FedGov won't....

But this is a SLIPPERY SLOPE here folks...if this interpretation of the law is indeed true. Stay vigilant, please!

The law ( http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/sb1070s.pdf ) we’re talking about has, as it’s very first section its intent, which reads:
The legislature finds that there is a compelling interest in the cooperative enforcement of federal immigration laws throughout all of Arizona. The legislature declares that the intent of this act is to make attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona. The provisions of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States.

If the ‘intent’ portion has any bearing at all, and it should, then I would say that it effectively negates the slippery slope you perceive.

I absolutely agree. There is a massive illegal immigration problem that the Feds have ignored. But given that people there can be stopped by police to have their citizenship checked, this is DEFINITELY a slippery slope they are going down.

You are correct, brother bamahead.

0bama better hope there aren't any disasters in Arizona for which he'd be expected to make an appearance.
