WASHINGTONPresident Barack Obama on Friday harshly criticized a proposed law in Arizona to crack down on illegal immigration and said his administration would examine the measure to see if it is consistent with federal law.
Speaking at a naturalization ceremony for active-duty members of the military, Mr. Obama also made a fresh pitch for comprehensive immigration legislation, which Democratic congressional leaders have said they will try to move this year.

Still skeptical of the timing of all this....this happens just when Obama is ready to overhaul immigration?? Yikes. Such peaceful nonviolent protestors...these illegals are. I am sure Gererldo will run a few hit pieces. Those old angry brown men.
the state law is the same as current federal law.
Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
State and local law enforcement officials have the general power to investigate and arrest violators of federal immigration statutes without prior INS knowledge or approval, as long as they are authorized to do so by state law. There is no extant federal limitation on this authority. The 1996 immigration control legislation passed by Congress was intended to encourage states and local agencies to participate in the process of enforcing federal immigration laws. Immigration officers and local law enforcement officers may detain an individual for a brief warrantless interrogation where circumstances create a reasonable suspicion that the individual is illegally present in the U.S. Specific facts constituting a reasonable suspicion include evasive, nervous, or erratic behavior; dress or speech indicating foreign citizenship; and presence in an area known to contain a concentration of illegal aliens.
Everyone ... stand back, let me handle this one...
Mr. Obamma, Go F$%K yourself Kenyan dirtbag!
“would examine the measure to see if it is consistent with federal law.”
But we are criticized for asking for an examination of his long Birth Certificate to see it it is consistent with the Constitution.
This boy is a real jerk!!
good point, I believe they shoot to kill on their southerner border and seeing as the far left wants us to look like the other countries of the world then we should adopt their immigration policy which also includes non citizens not being allowed to own a business, run for office etc
I had a gmail of Mexico’s immigration policy that someone sent me once and I’m sure I saved it.
But I need to find it.
He can send in the troops?
If he does it will be civil war.
Obama can choose to secure the border, or NOT.
The Southern tier of states will do it.Arizona is just the first. Parallel laws will soon come from Texas and New Mexico.
California is lost. It is already a colony of Mexico.Thats why its local and state governments are bankrupt. More handouts than revenue.Arizona, Texas and Mexico have NO plans to become like Californicatia.

Pending the outcome of court rulings on this, Obama's response will be more in line with creating national ID's and granting amnesty to short circuit such laws. AZ may lead the way, but the way may be frought with unimaginable perils.
He may not be on the ballot in 2012, anyway, if he can't come up with a valid birth certificate.BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!
Here is a letter by way of Natl. Assn. of Former Border Patrol officers today from a former police officer to Obama about the AZ law.
Note from NAFBPO: He is a former cop,. and has lived on the major smuggling trail in that area for many years. Now if more Americans had the courage to speak out.

President Barack Obama
The White House
Washington, D.C.
Dear President Obama:
It is not the new Arizona illegal immigration law that my Governor just signed that is misguided, it is you, my friend (Im emulating Senator Juan McCain) who is misguided.
I know this may throw a monkey wrench into your goal of granting amnesty to the 20 million or more individuals who thumbed their noses at our law and made a mockery of any concept of national sovereignty and are residing here illegally, as many of them (hopefully) will now self-deport.
That would be a good thing, as it would save us the time and money otherwise needed to locate and return them to their country of origin, which this new law will greatly aid us in so doing.
The authority this law grants to our law-enforcement officials is long overdue and, if implemented years ago, we would not be facing our present illegal alien fiasco.
Now, other States of our Union are already considering passing similar laws which, while not surprising me, certainly pleases me. However, because of the number of democrats many of them now have as law makers, they may have to wait until after our next election to do so.
As for your amnesty aspirations, you can stuff them up your Pelosi.

He was headed that way anyway. We have to fight now. Many idiots are still asleep being sheep watching TV and ball games. They think the NCAA ball games actually mean something as they become serfs and enpower the TV networks.
Mr. Obama said he instructed the Justice Department to "examine the civil rights and other implications" of the new law.
The same "Justice Department" that saw NOTHING WRONG with club-wielding thugs at a polling place intimidating voters.
What would you expect from an illegal immigrant?
Doubtful. The USSC never intrudes on its own initiative. Someone with standing has to bring the issue to them so it can be resolved constitutionally.
I think even Geraldo Rivera could get his arms around that...right after his head explodes. Mexico has natural resources, plenty enough to feed it's people and develop a vibrant economy. They simply have no incentive to.
The Progressives depend on illegals and uneducated who are dependent on subsidies to stay in power.
It's modern day slavery, and the head slave trader is in a foul mood after what Arizona did.

Yeah except the business owners get the labor, and we pay the welfare.

Yeah, the same “Justice” Department.
He looks like something out of a horror movie.
