It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.
The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.
Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.
First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.
Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

FU, marine or not, FU. He isn’t a marine. It’s left wing BS. If he is a marine, he’s a POS. He speaks for himself. The day the military fights the citizens, it will be the end of the United States forever, nothing will matter.
Considering the source, the content and the comments at the link. I agree Travis.
Totally lying. He’s no Marine, he’s a DUmmy posting from his mommy’s basement, under his Che poster.
The duty of our military is to their country and its Constitution, not to its temporary elective leader. Should any such leader ever act in defiance of the former, their duty demands a painful but necessary choice. No reasonable person would welcome such an outcome, but our Founders planned for a such a terrible contingency by design.
I’m kind of longing for the day when we have ONE (the FIRST) Congressman charged with violating his/her oath of office.
Dream on, eh?
I HIGHLY doubt that was written by a marine and if it was, he’s a liberal nutcase.
I certainly hope it’s a hoax.
And I was having a fine day, having come to terms with recent events, and then this.
But let me tell you all, the day is coming when you will fear your military—it NECESSARILY FOLLOWS a collectivist takeover.
You can’t imagine it now, but a lot of you couldn’t imagine our present situation just ten years ago.
This is not hysteria, or extremism (no more than military personnel asking us to imagine him attacking us[F*cking pr*ck!]). This is inevitable if our course is not changed.
Unbelievable!
Without a doubt.
“I have to wonder if this wasnt written by a liberal whos scared to death theres going to be a civil war. In this day and age we need to check out everybody. Even those who profess to be on our side.”
I tend to agree, this seems written to incite, and is TOTALLY IRRATIONAL. The worst that happens is what happened in Hondorus, where the military (with Court backing) says “that’s enough” and takes back the country. Civil wars simply don’t HAPPEN because of a health care bill.
I attempted to make your principle point that it is fear of military force that keeps states from seceding. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Marine Corps and other branches would be used to put down a civil war. It was done in the past, and it would be done again. The basic ethical principle being employed is that might makes right. People no longer have the right to choose the form of government that operates in their best interest. Instead, the threat of violence has be be imposed to make people subservient to a government it does not want.
This MIGHT have been written by a Marine. Or, it might have been written by a clever lib imposter who wants us to grab our ankles and take it.
We do need to get on guard for these people...they seem to be scanning us, with posts like this.
I’m calling it BULLSH*T.
There will be those in the military who will follow the Federal governments orders without question, but I'm of the opinion it will top out at around 30% max. The rest of our military will stand down or actively join those who have decided to stop the Federal governments unconstitutional actions.
One fact that this marine seems to neglect is that he will be fighting Americans. And there are several million of those Americans who were once also members of the military who are quite capable of fighting just as well as our active soldiers.
The bill just passed with a “Healthcare Army” Ready Reserve force provision for disasters. Whatever that means it sounds like Obama’s own personal army.
The Federal Government will declare war first, when they institute amnesty, shut down access to web and AM radio and demand our guns.
The choice is theirs.
Is the National Guard “the military”? Were the people at Kent State “citizens”?
Because the News Media will paint that day you describe as whatever they are paid to paint it as. How would most people even know what to think of it as?
Two points I'd like to make, and keep in mind that I make them as someone who is emphatically NOT calling for any sort of "civil war" etc. etc.:
1) If the Sergeant is serious about supporting and defending the Constitution, then he will be right there with the "civilians" who are fighting to restore that document from the usurpers we currently see in Washington. If he picks up guns against patriots who are defending the Constitution, then he becomes an enemy who deserves anything he gets. His oath is to the Constitution, not to the government.
2) If it ever does reach a point where civil order breaks down and civil war breaks out in this country - and I mean that it has reached the point where Obama and Co. have cancelled elections, are rounding people up and putting them into concentration camps, and are attempting a wholesale disarmament of the American people as a prelude to a full-scale coup d'etat - the Sergeant better hope he doesn't fall into my hands. Marine or not, I would shoot him and gut him like a fish as an example to the others.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
