It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.

The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.

Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.

First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.

Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

You're wrong on your first premise and correct on your second. If you had read my post in it's entirety, you would have seen that I agree.

The 2nd amendment was not about making sure that people could just overthrow the government when they weren't getting their way.

The 2nd amendment was about making sure that the government couldn't overthrow the bounds of the Constitution.

While there is still Constitutional recourse to political change, any rebellion that takes place is a rebellion against the Constitution. We are still well within that level of governmental malfeasance.

You're absolutely right. The Second Amendment is the emergency reset button to be pressed when all other attempts to prevent despotism and tyranny have failed.

The Declaration of Independence in instructive on this point:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

The last bolded clause is especially instructive: it is not merely our right but our DUTY to throw off such government.

The challenge lies in knowing WHEN the tipping point has been reached.

Plus with 25-30 states joining in, who the hunted and who is the prey?

One other thing I thought of after my first post is that you will never have more than 24 states vote to secede. If you had the majority of people in 25 states so mad that the wanted to form a new county it would be safe to assume you would already control the senate (25x2=50 senators). So if you controlled the senate that would be a much easier way to defend your freedom that trying to break away and form a new nation by force of arms. If you had enough support to bring out 30 states, you would have 60 senators. With a filibuster proof majority in the senate, why would you want to secede?

The Social War is coming. As of now it is simply not time. Things are not bad enough yet. Of course, some of the military would shoot their fellow citizens-they must. The interesting part will be how many military will shoot the politicians.

It looks like it, unfortunately. Sgt. Christopher Calbat, NCO, 30 years old, based at Camp Pendleton.

I really didn't have to look far... after all, he uses his name in his Newsvine blog link. But you can use anyone's name in your blog link. However, the pictures he posted prove that he is who he says he is. Although I guess it is always possible someone is posing as him in an effort to frame him. I doubt it. I think he thinks he's smarter than your average bear.

Just gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that your tax dollars were first used to indoctrinate him at public school, and now are being used to train him to kill you, your family, neighbors, friends and co-workers at Dear Leader's behest, doesn't it? 'Cause he certainly has a twisted comprehension of the Constitution.

Hmm. Well that settles the issue of WHY a Liberal, posing as a Marine, would post this as a kind of COINTELPRO. It’s actually a Marine who’s a Liberal, and actually believes what he’s saying.

I’ve sent a link to this thread to the friend who originally forwarded it to me yesterday. He’s always jousting with me over politics - this discussion should give him a real insight into what a lot of patriots think.

I don't believe the tipping point has been reached yet, but we are heading in that direction, and probably over a third of the way there.

Actually, I should clarify... I do not know for certain that he is based at Pendleton. I was making an assumption based on the San Diego connection.

Several claim to be military and remind all of us that we are no match for their superior fire power. One fine solider suggested that they let all of us stupid Americans have a mock war with the military to show us how foolish we are.

If they think there would be open engagements with the military then none of them are fit to war game the possibilities. Not that that wouldn't occur at all but it would represent less than 2% of the way resistance manifested IMO. He doesn't have the slightest idea how citizens would carry things out.

If he fears dissenting opinion on the internet I wouldn't worry too much about his ability to take it to the streets. Even if the military were called up to quell a rebellion I don't think his higher ups will ever give him the orders or the tools he imagines using on the American populace. Politics will rule the day and ruin his. 0bamunist takeover notwithstanding.

Depends on what the standards and policies of the board were. I wouldn’t ban someone just because they posted something that angered me or that I disagrred with, no matter how profoundly.

Of course, since it has been verified now by other Freepers that this guy really exists, and is a real marine, it appears that either he wrote and posted this yesterday, or that he plagiarized it from another source. You say that you debunked this and banned it on another forum. How long ago was that? Because he might have copied it and then published it as his own yesterday.

Is there any other explanation?

Boy, get your head out of your aft.

Nobody calling for Civil War, at least not at the meetings I’ve been to.

But...

Everyone does need to think about one thing.

We will be outgunned.

They have body armor, we do not.

Those who take up arms against a tyrannical government will die. Just as have all those before who would not bow to a dictator.

I am prepared for that. Not calling for it, but am prepared.

As is my father. A Marine.

As is my mother. A housewife.

As is my cousin. A Marine.
As is my aunt. A Business Owner.

Everyday ordinary citizens, who like those that fought the original war for freedom in this country.

It all comes down to what you are prepared for, and prepared to do.

Pray for peace, pray for guidance. Pray for our active duty sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, all those who wear the uniform.

Pray that those young and ignorant remember the oath they took. To protect and defend the Constitution. Not the sitting President, not Congress. The CONSTITUTION. From enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.

Do not include those, sitting in their homes, going to tea parties, calling in true civil, righteous anger their ELECTED reps, as DOMESTIC threats.

No one here, no one who loves our Country, who treasures the life and liberty we enjoy, is calling for ANY form of armed conflict.

We hear the heartbeat of liberty slowing, and we are simply saying, WE are watching, WE are listening, WE will not go quietly into the night.

WE ARE AMERICANS. And WE have the God given right to be heard.
