...To those calling for a civil war, this Marine wants you to stop, and think...
newsvine.com ^ | Mar 26 2010 | Sgt C USMC

It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.

The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.

Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.

First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.

Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

The only people trying to start a civil war are the ones that are in the process of staging a coup against the US Constitution.

The rest of us would just rather see the Constitution be followed, or changed through the proper process.

It is up to the military to decide which side of that argument they want to be on.

********************************

Agreed on all points. As in Spain in the 1930s, the military and law enforcement will splinter as will every sector of government and society. Their problem is the number of utter parasites on their side. Our problem is the number of utter criminals on their side.

Active Duty ARE allowed to voice their opinion.

What they cannot do is advertise Well, I'm a Marine, Soldier etc and this political opinion or that. Or use DoD to further their goals/views.

They cannot wear a uniform to promote politicians, political rallies etc. Hence when Bob McDonell showed his daughter in uniform during his VA campaign (on a flier and i believe his website); he had the disclaimer that the US DoD was not advocating or supporting any particular candidate... it was just his daughter that HE was proud of.

I’ve got visitors in the house right now or I’d do it myself, but has anyone run this by Snopes?

That “marine” is basically fantasizing about mowing down civilians en masse. He is one sick SOB regardless of if he really is a marine (which I seriously doubt).

This guy sounds like he’s been brainwashed pretty well or he’s FOS. (probably voted for Barry)

What if he were orderd to *frag* his hometown or the neighborhood of a distant relative, his wife’s parents home?

Would he just do it? (and I know the PTBs have planned on sending in either foreign troops or sending our troops to unfamilier areas but, that doesn’t always work out)

I read enough of that tripe to become convinced that the author is a wanna-be. I know too many Marines, and the article is filled with imaginative bullshit from the viewpoint of somebody who believes they know how Marines think... but they really don't.

I won't elaborate here because you know that what I'm talking about is one of those things whereby if you know it, then you simply know it; and if you don't, there's no way it can be explained.

It's sort of like young guys lying to old guys that they know what it's like to be an old guy. :-)

“I hope some of you heed my words and cool the rhetoric and focus on achieving your goals diplomatically instead of physically. It would never want to receive a frag order to Maryland, or North Dakota, or Texas, but it is an order I will follow no matter how much it pains me to do so.”

As with some more notorious and probably much more competent statist predecessors, this turd anticipates “just following orders”.

The essayist is an example of the Nazi next door.

That is my opinion.

As numerous other posters have said, I do not believe that the Military will take orders from Obama. I do not believe that the average soldier will go against his kin or neighbors. I believe the post about Christmas time that mentioned that some high ranking brass had said that if Obama attempts to install martial law, that their first duty will be to remove him from the office.

Military will not go against us. Bush signed a mutual aid agreement with Canada, that said that in case something like this happened, that Canada will come in as the peace keeper. Good idea, they have some real cool guns and equipment that would look good in our collections.

Yes... I DID have a rather unfortunate incident with an artillery simulator! I didn't have any long term damage. In fact, I think I suffered more hearing loss over time from working in a comm facility (LOTS of moving air from equipment fans!) than from that simulator explosion.

Mortars at 150 feet aren't going to be pleasant, but they're not going to shatter your teeth or perforate ear drums. 105mm Howitzer rounds will though. :-)

I read most of the original article and believe the writer is full of crap. :-)...and most certainly not a Marine.

Sgt C USMC

Actually according to Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton,The Constitution was intended to be scrapped and re-written every generation (19 years back then) .

So if we’re going to go by ‘the founding father’s principles and ideals concerning the constitution’ then I would say not only is it a living document, we have been derelict in our duties to treat it as such.

Unfortunately there is a long history of US troops firing on it’s own civilians.
During Washington term with the Whiskey Rebellion...

Lincoln during Civil War at the New York draft riots...

Hoover (with MacArthur)on the Bonus Army....

Nixon National Guard at Kent State...

Clinton at Waco and Ruby Ridge(ATF and FBI)

Do not doubt for a second any present or future government will order troops to shoot down it’s own citizens!!!1

******************************

Just to point out that Ruby Ridge belongs to the G H W Bush administration.

We are too forgiving of the deliberate and catastrophic derailment of conservatism by the Bush family.

An air force guy in my self defense class he would not hesitate to fire on civilians if ordered to do so.

I do think that you are right about the military not accepting illegal orders from zero.
