U.S. energy secretary Steven Chu said Wednesday that the U.S. must decrease its energy use to allow developing nations the room to grow, while emphasizing that prosperity doesn't have to come with a large carbon footprint.
"We believe we have to decrease our use of energy to allow headroom for the developing nations to grow their economies," Chu said in a speech in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.
"There is no law of physics that says prosperity is proportional to carbon emissions," Chu said.

Now the US is going to experience downgraded lifestyle expectations. Objectively speaking, that's the real goal of this administration. A much poorer, less powerful, less comfortable, less happy, less secure America.
they will have higher taxes to repay the debt
Hard to tax people who aren't employed.

Any idea what this clown thinks hes trying to say? Yeah, just repeating the 'Spread the Wealth' commie mantra... Somehow they think impoverishing our nation will make other nations wealthier.
(A) If that were so, that isn't a good thing - our elected officials should promote the well-being of the Nation they were elected to serve,
And
(B) It isn't so. Reaganomics showed that the best way to increase everyone's prosperity is to allow everyone's prosperity to increase... Hammering down one segment (i.e., 'the wealthy' ... otherwise defined as: 'anyone who makes more than you do') just increases the misery across the board...
These commies don't get it; and they are a menace to our Nation.

He wants us all poorer.
Same guy who proposed painting all roofs black to stop global warming.

"There is no law of physics that says prosperity is proportional to carbon emissions," Chu said.
Well no, there isn't. There's a pretty clear economic correlation, however, and prosperity is based on economic considerations, not compliance with the laws of physics. There's also no law of physics that says we can't build hundreds of nuclear reactors to take care of our nation's energy needs far into the future with minimal carbon emission - why exactly do we need to curb our energy usage?

Chu serves as an example that you can win a Nobel Prize(in a very esoteric area) and still be dumb as a box of rocks. Anyone who knew Linus Pauling could have told you that.

All nations must get rid of their cars, airplanes, trains, and other forms of transportation and roads, all forms of energy generation, tear down all the buildings and only live in grass huts. That’s the green way!
You must reduce your standard of living until you end up as a Turd World Nation. It’s all a part of making all nations ‘equal.’
To: thackney
We’ll use “less energy” to give the 3rd world the headroom to grow?
I believe I’ll go take a nap now. Wouldn’t want to use up energy *working* or *creating wealth* or anything like that

Africa actually has the highest CO2 emissions in the world. Why isn’t he telling the Africans to shut it down?
To: thackney
"There is no law of physics that says prosperity is proportional to carbon emissions," Chu said. Dumb statement. There is also no law of physics that says democrats may hold high government positions.

Pfft. Experimental physics. He was a monkey at a typewriter.
I’d like to see him propose shutting down the superconducting supercollider to save energy. See how his physics buddies react to that.

Did not know that energy was a zero sum game...

Let's replace them all with slightly less anti-American RINO commie-Lites.

There is a law of economics that states just that however.
