Tiger Turns To Buddhism To Turn Life Around Apologetic golf star vows to use religion to bring balance to his ways
In the theater of American public apologies, its common for celebrities to invoke their faith. Disgraced golf superstar Tiger Woods did it Friday, in fact, with a twist. He cited the role of Buddhism in his life and will look to it to help him recover from serial infidelity.
People probably dont realize it, but I was raised a Buddhist, and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years, Woods said during Fridays televised apology, his first public appearance in nearly three months. It was Woods most direct reference to his beliefs yet.
In a few previous interviews, Woods said he had practiced meditation and had attended temple with his mother. He has credited her, and her Thai Buddhism, with giving him the focus needed on the golf course and throughout his life.
His latest comments reflected the Buddhist teachings about desire, craving and attachment and balance.
In therapy Ive learned the importance of looking at my spiritual life and keeping in balance with my professional life, Woods said. I need to regain my balance and be centered so I can save the things that are most important to me, my marriage and my children.

He should have just announced that from now on he’s only going to get in 9 holes a day - and spend the rest of his time playing golf. It would have been far more believeable.
In that case, they have got it wrong.
I noticed that “old man” look a few years ago. He went from looking like a kid to much older in a short time. All the endorsement commitments, golf course design business, on top of all the practice required, seemed like too much for one person to me. And then we find out he’s burning the candle at both ends with his night life. No wonder he looks old.
I thought so too, the way he stumbled over words a few times and seemed a little slow. Gonna make the golf course tough, or maybe he had a one-time dose of something for the stress.
If Tiger is serious about this crap, then his career as the superstar of golf is over. Finis.
Hell, it may be over anyway. Join the pack, Tiger.
Oh yea? Tell that to Tyrannosaurus Rex! Tell that to the Dodo! :-))
The whole exercise was a part of his treatment and idiot commentators who obsessed about what he would say and later whether it was "enough", etc, were being braindead(surprise surprise). It wasn't about them, or us, fer chrissakes.
Irrelevant here.
"Who doeth all for Me; who findeth Me
In all; adoreth always; loveth all
Which I have made, and Me, for Loves sole end,
That man, Arjuna! unto Me doth wend."
- Bhagavad-Gita.
The part about karma is shared.
Tyrannosaurus Rex to several trillion bacteria! (Smiles!)
I believe Tiger is trying to change... how many men have honestly said I’ve made a mistake and whatever happens from here on out, it’s between me and my wife? It is really none of our business. I wish him well.
What was actually sad to witness here, were many of the comments. The negativity is so thick, you can stand a spoon in it.
The woman pictured in post 25 is his mother Kultida Woods whom he hugged at the presser. He may have hugged someone else but I don’t know about that.
Yeah, the person that I was responding to was talking about the woman he hugged after he hugged his mother. It's the second woman whom I believe to be one of his NIKE reps, FWIW.
I’ve been told that the woman and man sitting to his mother’s right are involved with the Cliffs development in western NC (south of Asheville), where TW is supposed to be building his first U.S. golf course.
Thanks..... Here’s a little more info, apprently he hugged the other two women also.

Kathy Battaglia, an administrative assistant at Tiger Woods Enterprises, and Amy Reynolds, formerly of Nike and now working for Tiger Woods Design, sat on either side of Woods’ mother.
Reynolds was observed dabbing at her eyes during Woods’ speech.
Woods embraced both women after a tearful hug with his mother.

Oh, formerly of NIKE. ESPN had identified her as his NIKE rep, which did cause some confusion because someone else pointed out that his primary NIKE rep was a man. This clears it up.
OTOH, I've expended way too much brain power contemplating the seemingly endless women in Tiger's life :)
I dunno if it will work for him, but I think if more people followed the “Noble Eightfold Path”, the world would be a better place.
