Tiger Turns To Buddhism To Turn Life Around Apologetic golf star vows to use religion to bring balance to his ways
In the theater of American public apologies, its common for celebrities to invoke their faith. Disgraced golf superstar Tiger Woods did it Friday, in fact, with a twist. He cited the role of Buddhism in his life and will look to it to help him recover from serial infidelity.
People probably dont realize it, but I was raised a Buddhist, and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years, Woods said during Fridays televised apology, his first public appearance in nearly three months. It was Woods most direct reference to his beliefs yet.
In a few previous interviews, Woods said he had practiced meditation and had attended temple with his mother. He has credited her, and her Thai Buddhism, with giving him the focus needed on the golf course and throughout his life.
His latest comments reflected the Buddhist teachings about desire, craving and attachment and balance.
In therapy Ive learned the importance of looking at my spiritual life and keeping in balance with my professional life, Woods said. I need to regain my balance and be centered so I can save the things that are most important to me, my marriage and my children.

Too bad Tiger's rejecting it.
LOL
Tiger the buddhist goes up to a hot dog vendor and says,
“Make me one with everything,”
and gives the vendor a $20.00 bill.
He gets his dog and waits.
Finally he says, “Where’s my change?”
The vendor replies, “Change comes from within.”
The whole presentation on Friday was odd, the audience like zombies. And he had Mom there! After he hugged Mom, he hugged some woman.
Hundred to one it won’t work and he’ll be back to his old ways
LOL!
The fiction of the cycle of re-incarnation taking animal forms from snakes to baboons impels the query what caused the Tasmanian Devil to be born one? I think both Buddhism and Hinduism share this creed.
And I've always had questions about reincarnation. This is what I understand about it. With reincarnation, you keep coming back until you get it right and are then absorbed into the Universe, correct? If this is true, then why is the population of the world increasing, instead of decreasing? The other thing that's always bothered me is karma. If you come back and have a hard life, it's because you were bad in your last life. If you come back rich, famous...ect. It's because you deserve it because you were good. I think with this line of thinking it would make you feel, like you deserve it, very ego boosting, your all that on a stick. And it would make you less likely to help anyone who's down and out, after all, they deserve it.
That woman was apparently one of his Nike reps, from what I heard on ESPN, FWIW.
“If this is true, then why is the population of the world increasing, instead of decreasing?”
All life, not just human.
I think you picked it — steroids and weight gain. He didn’t look “fit” to me.
Wrong.
See #11.

Patpong girl?
If it's the faith from his mother, it's probably Theravada, the oldest sect.
Maybe he’s going to focus on Tantric Buddhism. You know, that way he can have his... cake... and... /g
He has absorbed the hit that he so desperately deserved and created for himself. This is the toughest part and it means it hit him right where it was supposed to--in his soul. That is the only place that can change to change his situation going forward.
May he be on the proper course and may he stay there over his lifetime.
Why would you help someone if you believe in karma. After all they deserve it. Wouldn't you be going against karma by helping?
