Bill Nye 'The Science Guy': Denying Climate Change 'Unpatriotic,' 'Inappropriate'
Newsbusters ^ | February 11, 2010 | Jeff Poor

Challenging someone's patriotism is a pretty hefty charge to level in the political arena, based on the response when Barack Obama's patriotism was challenged during the 2008 election cycle.

However, there seems to be a different set of rules when it comes to questioning the authenticity of the manmade global warming argument in the wake of record-setting snowfall in the Mid-Atlantic. And this different standard applied to Bill Nye "The Science Guy," who appeared on MSNBC's Feb. 10 "Rachel Maddow Show" and aired his disapproval of manmade climate change skeptics and labeled them "unpatriotic."

"[T]here's more energy in the atmosphere and this is stirring things up," Nye said. "If you want to get serious about it, these guys claiming that the snow in Washington disproves climate change are almost unpatriotic. It's really, they're denying science. So they're very happy to have the weather forecast be accurate within a few hours, but they're displeased or un-enchanted by predictions of the world getting warmer. It's really, it shakes me up."

Greater cloud formation does not equate to greater energy. Water droplets and clouds need a catalyst to form. Obviously, the catalyst must be greater (Cosmic Ray Interference). You can have more clouds with no energy change. Just increase the catalyst.

Wow, MSNBC went all out and got the host of a children’s show to give a scientific opinion. What’s on the agenda today - will they have Ernie & Bert on to give a point/counterpoint on the healthcare debate? No... let me guess they will interview Dora The Explorer on immigration issues. I did read that MSNBC hired ‘Capt. America’ to do some special reports on the TEA Party movement, not sure what that’s all about...

That is how governments have been seeding clouds for years.

I’m not sure Nye is exactly qualified to make any assessments. What is his area of expertise?

Nye appears on the PBS channels, doesn't he? I'd say his first and foremost area of expertise is now obvious. He's a propagandist.

Wow, he's doing that gig? He should fire his agent.

Rest easy Bill, no one was watching.

Man-made climate change is unsubstantiated bullsh*t, Bill, and you know it.

However, since climate change is basically a religion to leftists like yourself, we understand how hard it must be to deny your ‘God’.

“Mr. Wizard is Don Herbert.”

i *loved* Mr. Wizard. He actually did the coolest stuff right there on TV. He knew his stuff.

This is in contrast to a PBS Video DJ who wears a lab coat, reads a teleprompter and back-announces poorly written pop/rap tunes.

I'd call Bill Nye the Ted Baxter of science but Ted Baxter was much more knowledgable and "in the moment" than Bill Nye.

I was a huge fan of this guy’s show when I was a kid. He only has a BS in mechanical engineering if I recall. That doesn’t really give him any credibility to talk about climate change. Of course, you have professors who are hiding/changing data out there to try and save what little credibility they have left.

According to Nye, it’s easier to sell the theory of anthropogenic global warming to younger generations since “older people” have a harder time with the concept.

Thank god I grew up with the notion that science is based on reproducible results, not graft, intimidation, and mental thuggery.

I was going the other direction - this is who Rachel Maddow brings out as an expert? What is next, Wile E Coyote on the diminishing road runner population? I would say that she 'jumped the shark', but there were never any sharks at this 'deep thinker's end of the wading pool.
