i *loved* Mr. Wizard. He actually did the coolest stuff right there on TV. He knew his stuff.
This is in contrast to a PBS Video DJ who wears a lab coat, reads a teleprompter and back-announces poorly written pop/rap tunes.
I'd call Bill Nye the Ted Baxter of science but Ted Baxter was much more knowledgable and "in the moment" than Bill Nye.
Thank god I grew up with the notion that science is based on reproducible results, not graft, intimidation, and mental thuggery.
