ALASKA ELECTION CENTRAL
We need names, positions, platforms, news articles, statements, pictures. We need to separate the RINOS from the Conservatives, and most of all, we need to get the liberals of either party OUT!
We can do this if you help. I have started this thread. All you have to do is contribute a little time and a little research. Help us help this country, and between us, we WILL take our country back!

Kathy my friend, can you ping Alaskans to this thread please?
There is little I know about Lisa Murkowski.(John McCain won Alaska with 60%)But she won by 48.58%
We know you had one very, very great Senator :)
And all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives
We need to take our country back !
Alaska. My adopted home. 2 Senators and 1 Congressman.
Currently, we have Senator Mark Begich (D) who narrowly defeated the incumbent Ted Stevens in 2008, because of a drummed up scandal. The charges were dropped after the election was over due to prosecutorial misconduct.
We also have a RINO Senator Lisa Murkowski, appointed by the former Governor, and her father, in 2002. She won re-election in 2008. Pro choice, and wishy washy on most Conservative issues. Next election 2014. Should be easy pickings for an actual Conservative
And lastly, we have but one Member of Congress. The venerable Don Young. He is a classic Alaskan. He is fiercely independent and his own man. He is excellent on gun rights. He is excellent on the military. And a personal note, He answers his own phone. I had a problem and I called his office. To my surprise he answered. I explained my dilemma. He took my number and called me back, personally, the next day. The issue was put to rest.
Good guy.
What are Murkowski’s chances of defeat?

2004 Election Race
Murkowski did have history on her side going into the 2004 race for a full term: no Alaska Republican Senator had ever lost. In the primary she faced former Alaska Senate president Mike Miller (R), who questioned her conservative credentials on abortion, the right to bear arms and her efforts to raise the state income tax. Her fathers lieutenant governor endorsed Miller. With the backing of Stevens and Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), Murkowski won the primary 58 to 37 percent.(7)
In the general election, Murkowski ran against her fathers predecessor in the governors mansion, Democrat Tony Knowles. Knowles had been friends with President George W. Bush at Yale and was mayor of Anchorage before serving two terms as governor. Like Murkowski, Knowles supported drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the gas pipeline. Alaska media noted that each candidate was considered a moderate in his or her own party, and that their positions often seemed to meet in the middle. One difference between them was Knowles stated in October 2004 that he wouldnt have voted to use force in Iraq while Murkowski said she would have.
Another thing going against Murkowski was a general distaste for what Alaskans saw as the nepotism implied by her appointment by her dad, ex-Senator and current Alaska Gov. Murkowski. A measure put forward by three Democratic state representatives to stop governors from appointing new senators, Ballot Measure No. 4, passed with 56 percent of the vote in November 2004. It stipulates that a governor can only appoint a new senator to serve for 60 to 90 days until a special election is held.(8)
Murkowski trailed in the polls through much of the 2004 campaign. She argued that it would be disastrous for Alaskans if Republicans lost their then 51-49 Senate majority. The Republican agenda is synonymous with the Alaska agenda, Murkowski said during a late campaign stop.(9)
In November, Murkowski won a slim three-point victory, 49 to 46 percent, becoming the first woman Alaskans had elected to Congress.
In January 2009, Senate Minority Leader McConnell (R-Ky.) made Murkowski one of his three counsels to provide guidance and advice when the 111th Congress convened , along with Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) and Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah). She was also made ranking member on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee (where her father was formerly chairman) and got Sen. Stevensold position on the Appropriations Committee after he was defeated by Democratic Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich in 2008.(10)
In the Senate, Murkowski sits on the Energy and Natural Resources; Appropriations; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; and Indian Affairs committees.
