The proposal to put the science-lab cuts on the table was approved recently by Berkeley High's School Governance Council, a body of teachers, parents, and students who oversee a plan to change the structure of the high school to address Berkeley's dismal racial achievement gap, where white students are doing far better than the state average while black and Latino students are doing worse. The full plan to close the racial achievement gap by altering the structure of the high school is known as the High School Redesign. It will come before the Berkeley School Board as an information item at its January 13 meeting. Generally, such agenda items are passed without

There is unrest in the Forest There is trouble with the trees For the Maples want more sunligh And the Oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the Maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the Oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the Oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the Maples Can't be happy in their shade?

There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the Maples scream `Oppression!` And the Oaks, just shake their heads

So the Maples formed a Union And demanded equal rights 'The Oaks are just too greedy We will make them give us light' Now there's no more Oak oppression For they passed a noble law And the trees are all kept equal By hatchet, Axe, And saw ...

Cut some athletic programs if they need cuts. We need more scientists than pro ball players.

Instead of rasing the standards at schools that don’t meet them, instead these libtards dumb down those better off in order to meet the standards of mediocrity.

Paul Gibson, an alternate parent representative on the School Governance Council, said that information presented at council meetings suggests that the science labs were largely classes for white students. He said the decision to consider cutting the labs in order to redirect resources to underperforming students was virtually unanimous.

We reach a point where it's almost pointless to comment on what some of the politically correct, guilt-ridden white folks do. It's only worth noting that these people are absolute fools. Maybe it'd worthwhile to study how they got that way.

Read the comments in the article link. Most people seem to realize what a destructive idea this is for all students. They understand it’s going to hurt the ethnic minority students (e.g. blacks and Hispanics) who are ambitious, as well as the ambitious white and Asian students.

In other news of the soon-to-be future, Berkley high schools see a dramatic drop in admissions from colleges and universities.

Here’s a crazy idea. Demand the kids on the bottom quit their bitching and moaning; and start studying.

Sincular-Mertens, who has taught science at BHS for 24 years, said the possible cuts will impact her black students as well.

Sincular-Mertens, like all good liberals, is surprised when the "people's committee" comes after her.

The white and Asian kids will still find ways to study science. It’s in their genes. They will go online, search science periodicals, and even read books. The other kids will continue on the path they have chosen.
