Declaring that she was honored and proud to run with him, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.
The website TMZ accused Palin of a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain during a Hawaii vacation this week: Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.
But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to be incognito -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.
The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.
Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."
The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

Sarah says she backs the re-election of a man with John McCain’s history 100%, and the best you can do is to say those who object have the emotional maturity of teenagers?
Well, that’s okay JLA. Perhaps you have some pretty smart teenagers in your area.
Teenagers who can’t face reality are the ones I generally think of as being emotionally immature.
Well, I don’t know what folks here who have criticized Sarah think of Ron Paul. What’s more, I don’t care. This issue stands on it’s own merits. It’s rather pathetic to watch folks try to change the subject.
I generally think of Democrats pulling that kind of childishness.
Thanks Onyx. Take care. It does set up an interesting dynamic, Sarah now having to explain what she disagrees with John over, for the next couple of years.
Thank you.
“Increasing taxes hurts everyone. I dont see how taxing companies more helps anyone but the politician and the people to whom she doles out the money. That is hardly free market thinking.”
Correct!
I see that you have NOT read her book and discovered how that dysfunctional campaign operated, with Schmidt screaming at her on a daily basis. Get back to me after you finish the last chapter.
Thanks Roamer_1. I appreciate it.
I’m certain I like parts of what the Libertarian message is, but then there’s other parts that make me run from them like a cat with a scalded tail.
I first became aware of Paul years ago when I heard his firm support of the Constitution on a number of matters. Then I started learning more about him, and it really destroyed my ability to raise him up.
What can I say...
You can join me on my mountaintop anytime. Clears the mind & soul, doesn’t it? :<) But you better bring a gun....we’re surrounded by armed Mexican drug cartels....illegal aliens, who ,according to some, deserve a ‘pathway to citizenship’.
Okay, then you think she should have come out and said the John McCain is a lousy Senator, a jackass that has betrayed the Conservative cause at almost every turn.
Hey, I agree. Thanks.
Whadderya, stupid? Nearly $30B in increased revenue to the state is a tax cut????
In addition to this she refunded the people of Alaska more of their own money AND vetoed a heck of a lot of pork.
NO. She "refunded" the people of Alaska more of the oil companies' money.
And while she did veto a bunch of pork, she also made alot more to replace it.
Not to mention AGIA, which is the largest privately funded construction project ever. The natural gas pipeline to the lower 48. Exxon had balked but they are now on board with it too.
It is *not* privately funded at this point. The exploratory phase is funded by the state. And it is only exploratory - The contractors can back out at any time, and keep the earnest from the state... No one even knows what it is going to cost, or whether it can be done.
And you can bet your bottom dollar that if it fails funding, and she is president, she will get it funded by the taxpayer.
A simple FaceBook entry will put to rest anxieties this statement may have caused, if she deems such an entry necessary.
I look forward to Sarah campaigning for Marco Rubio!

Exactly.
For the record.
I am a lifelong Republican since 1972.
I am not a Libertarian
I have never voted for a libertarian
I do not, or ever have supported Ron Paul.
PERIOD
However, I sincerely doubt that anyone (and I'm really liking DeMint the more I see and hear him) already in politics is going to come out and say any of those things.
IMHO, Politics is all about power, and the things you mention would in various ways, erode some of the power currently held.
But, we can certainly hope.
I have been advocating Sarah start a program to get herself ready for 2012. Here are some of the things she needs to do IMO.
1. Start a program that gets her up to speed on foreign affairs.
2. Take trips to foreign nations and meet with world leaders.
3. Read heavily books that cover historic world affairs.
4. Study debate tactics, and participate in mach debates frequently. Learn the tricks that allow you to defuse just about any question, or turn it back on the questioner.
5. Prepare position statements on about every aspect of political affairs. When a person asks you a question you knew was coming, have the precise response ready.
The Left is going to try to frame her as inexperienced and naive. She will either shoot that down early on, or she will pay heavily for missteps.
I have said I think her instincts are good. I do think she can develop into a person who will prevent others from exploiting weaknesses. When she does, she’s going to be a formidable candidate.
Acting like she is a formidable candidate now, and doesn’t need to prepare, is the one thing that could cost her the presidency, or obtain it not truly being ready.
The last thing we want, is someone from our side to reach the Oval office, not being ready.
People who lean Conservative can make mistakes too. I want to avoid those as much as possible, so the brand is not tarnished again.
This may make it sound like I’m being unfair. I don’t think I am. Who didn’t see Palin being asked about support for John McCain at some point. It was probably one of the most likely questions she was going to be asked, and I don’t believe this is evidence of her being ready.
I don’t want to see this type of thing again. I doubt you do either.
That pretty much sums up my position too.
I did think Paul was a pretty good guy at one time. I’m not able to say that unequivocally today.
