Declaring that she was honored and proud to run with him, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.
The website TMZ accused Palin of a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain during a Hawaii vacation this week: Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.
But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to be incognito -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.
The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.
Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."
The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

“C’mon VR, the words came out of her mouth.
Conservatism is based upon principle. The way we learn about her principles is by her quotes and her record. At best she has made two statements that cancel each other out- And in that case, one should admit that it is a waffle, and suspect the worst.
How is this any different than the shifting sands of Sh*tt Romney or John McCain’t? The correct answer is that it isn’t - McCain’t script or not. A true Conservative would never have uttered the words in the first place. “
Good summation.
Sarah is her own person. Her statement in support of her friend John McCain has literally shamed him. Think about all his equivocating about her.
She has shown again that she is the better person -— that she is not into petty politics or personal slights.
Her statement should forever put to rest any remaining rumors that she and John aren’t the best of friends.
Exactly, and I think too many Palin detractors view her through the standard political prism. Take care, my FRiend.
Pain's a witch!
Supporting McCain (you know the guy who brought her to national prominence and while far from conservative is a power player in the political party she has to master to have a shot at anything) proves it!!!!!
Burn her!
BURN HER!
It's no wonder that people such as Jefferson and Reagan preferred living on mountain tops and Palin in a sparsely populated 'remote' state. Better to keep more than a little distance between themselves and the unbalanced members of the populace.
Your opinion is as worthless as the tick on my dog.
You don’t even know the source of the quotes on your own homepage. As you’ve been told before...DON’T post to me!
No one has lied about Palin, her own words do that for her.
As for what you know about Madison and Jefferson...PFFT!
Buzz off. If all you palinites have is to lie about other posters, you’re lost. Most of us would like to support Palin, but people like you do her more harm than she does herself.
What I don’t understand is why people thought she was any different from the rest of the herd. She had no qualms about drastically increasing taxes on oil companies in Alaska.
Palin was never on my list in the st place, due to my having a lack of knowledge on how strictly she will protect & defend the Constitution of the United States...but I have to agree w/ you -- IF she said this, FORGET IT! I will be supporting Rep. RON PAUL once again in the GOP Primary & voting for the Constitution Party candidate should he not win it..
She changed the broken tax system to a new one named ACES which encouraged production and was simpler and yes, in times of higher oil prices, it raised more revenue.
She took on both political parties and the Big Three Oil Companies that ran everything and she won.
Yes it is: I disrespect Obama, for example.
I love JD, but please don’t forget Simcox!
You're silly, jla.
Jefferson and many of his fellow Virginians were no statists, something I can't say holds true for much of the Republican Party establishment, no matter how hard it tries to cloak itself in the mantle of Virginian self-governance.
Yeah... the same argument was made against me and my kind last election. However, I (among others) was able to predict the failure months before it happened. Seems there are more 1%ers than you know.
And I have not moved the goalposts one iota (nor has anyone else). It seems you would prefer *no* goalposts, and would like to rubber stamp the "win".
Mere Republicanism.
Big Three Oil Companies? You mean the companies that actually provide a service and a product, as opposed to politicians who just suck the life out of the economy?
Yes. They provide a valuable service.
No. That doesn’t mean they get to own the politicans.
I’m for the free market, not for rule by large corporations.
On my spelling: Hey I am multi-tasking.
Increasing taxes hurts everyone. I don’t see how taxing companies more helps anyone but the politician and the people to whom she doles out the money. That is hardly free market thinking.
BWAHAHAHAHA! Admitedly, I am not as much of a "Jefferson" kind of guy. He is considered to be among the most liberal of the founders. But even Jefferson would be very particular about who he lent his vote to. As it is, I align quite well with J. Adams and Madison. I would be happy to argue with you about the founders, but you'd better go get a clue.
It's no wonder that people such as Jefferson and Reagan preferred living on mountain tops and Palin in a sparsely populated 'remote' state. Better to keep more than a little distance between themselves and the unbalanced members of the populace.
BWAHAHAHAHA sommore! It would do you well to look at where people live before making such a statement. I have been on a mountain top most of my life.
As to AuntB, as always, I find myself in the best of company.
Well for starters you are thinking of it wrong as you thinking of it as a tax increase.
It was not, not necessarily. It was tax reform. It taxed revenue instead of income as income can, and often is fudged. It also provided a production tax credit. Yes, a tax cut.
In addition to this she refunded the people of Alaska more of their own money AND vetoed a heck of a lot of pork.
She inherited a state where the government spending was out of control and had many politicians going to jail for taking bribes from oil companies. She cleaned up a hell of a mess and left it in the capable hands of her Lt. Governor.
Not to mention AGIA, which is the largest privately funded construction project ever. The natural gas pipeline to the lower 48. Exxon had balked but they are now on board with it too.
No, no, no. Those were fees. /Palinite /sarc
