Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi was punched in the face at the end of a rally in Milan on Sunday, new reports said.
The attack occurred as the 73-year-old Berlusconi was signing autographs near his car, state TV said.
TV showed the stunned leader with blood under his nose and on his mouth as he was lifted to his feet by aides.
Berlusconi was hustled into the back of a car by the aides, but he immediately got out, apparently in an effort to show he was not badly injured. After looking

Guess we're lucky Bush dodged the shoe?
I have a feeling whoever punched him is going to end up with more than a bloodied mouth.
No he is just doing his impression of Tiger Woods
As somebody said, either a brick or brass knuckles. This was more than just a “punch.”
I’m betting radical leftist. They hate Berlusconi, and Milan is one of their big hang-outs. Also, they’ve been very violent lately, even against more moderate leftists (the incidents in Berkeley where they were attacking the university president’s house, for example).
Italian Leftists are one step away from putting a bullet in Silvio’s head. The universities are festering holes of Communist violence.
I don’t much care what his politics are, it’s just a cowardly act to position yourself and blind side a 73 year old man like that. It takes a very little insignificant low life to do something like that.
I wish he would have gotten out of the car and walked over and pulverized the perp.
Fox News reported it was a statue of a cathedral that was used to hit him. ????
Jean Chretien Deals with a Guy Who Gets Too Close
In Canada, this famous episode was known as "the Shawinigan Handshake" (Shawinigan was Chretien's home town).
The headline writers at Fox must be kinda stupid. I mean, like, what’s with the “reportedly” business?
I see it as a manifestation of the dehumanizing of the right that is going on in the western world. Olberman calling Michelle Malkin a mashed up bag of meat comes to mind.
Its no different than nazi cartoons of stupid greedy apelike Jews.
You’ve hit it on the head for me.
I say that the Democrats are tied at the hip with the world’s leading problems. They have adopted the Palestinian and Arab mindset against the Jews, and are using it against White Conservative U.S. Citizens. And if a Black person dares cross the line into Conservatism, they are subject to the same treatment.
We have a mess on our hands.
I remember Jean Chretien getting smacked in the face with a pie. The newspaper had a picture of him with pie on his face and the headline read “The Pie Minister”.
When Glenn Beck said that we’ve raised a nation of potential killers, some said he was being hyperbolic but I’ve been watching and listening to the left for long enough to see where they’re going. The German people didn’t wake up one day and decide to hate Jews, they learned it over time.
These days, if I had to choose a caregiver for myself, I think I would choose the niece who dropped out of school over the WMU student. The dropout has made serious mistakes and is continuing to make them but I think she sees other people as humans. The WMU student has made me a little uneasy on a couple of occasions when she speaks about “room in the workplace” for her generation. She has an attitude that anyone over 40 is just taking up her rightful space.
I’ve got lots of liberal relatives but none of the “adults” make me nervous the way the next generation does.
Looks like the democrats are exporting their thuggery. Berlusconi is no saint, but I hope they throw the book at this guy who beats up on old men. Next, it will be the Pope.
I understand everything you said here. It makes perfect sense to me.
That comment about hating Jews is very important. We kid ourselves today if we think it could never happen again, or involve other people in addition to the Jews.
Conservatives in the U.S. might just as well be Hitler’s handmaidens when you see the press describe them. It’s pathetic the values system they use to justify it too.
Right down to the Hitler youth efforts, the left has modeled it self after one of the worst governments in history. And yet it condemns others. Of course that part of the modeling too isn’t it.
As for your niece and the over 40 mindset, she’s getting it pumped in from somewhere. Her idiot professors were evidently ahead of the curve with what’s just ahead, or could be just ahead.
Thanks for the comments.
I agree. Look, I despise Carter, but it would be an idiotic move to punch him out.
...We kid ourselves today if we think it could never happen again, or involve other people in addition to the Jews.
Conservatives in the U.S. might just as well be Hitlers handmaidens when you see the press describe them... There are several good biographies of Stalin out there now. One of the core behaviors of the bolshevik movement was to transfer the blame for all of their malfeasances to their opponents. Always. As they were spreading terror from Europe to the Sea Of Japan, they were charging convenient targets with terrorism, then shooting them. We forget history at our own peril.
Anything that ever happened can always happen again. And it can happen here. Not that I'm afraid that it will, but if no one gives a shit, I know that it must. Human nature does not seem to 'evolve'. At least I have not seen any evidence of it. If people like us forget what is really important, then we will indeed experience some 'interesting times'.
No, that was Sarkozy, the French President - someone threw a model of a cathedral at him. This incident involved the Italian President, Berlusconi. Weird - they both got punched out this weekend.
Actually, the guy hit Berlusconi with a model of the Milan Cathedral. If somebody threw one at Sarkozy, too, that’s even stranger.
They’re saying the man in the Italian incident had mental issues, although his neighbors say that if he did, they never noticed it...and he himself told the police that he did it for political reasons. So go figure.
Milan is a big hangout of what? Have you even ever been in Milan at all?
Silvio Berlusconi, for the record, was not punched: this crazy guy threw a miniature Duomo at him.
