Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.
We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.
We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.
Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.
For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.
And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.
FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.
And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.
Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.
FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.
We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.
Keep your powder dry.
Thats the thing with opinions in a free society. You are entitled to be wrong. To link the truly evil events of the 20th century to an observed natural phenomenon is specious at best. Indirectly calling the Catholic Church evil (your post 1411: "Evolutionists are monsters who have no place in conservatism, let alone civilized society!") doesn't make it so, it just minimalizes your other valid points.
Lighten up a little. Being uptight and too serious is unbecoming.
Failing to run the built in spell check hardly compares to the incredible puerile and condescending Catholic basing that has been going on by the illiterati on FR.
“Yes, I answered you by citing the fact that Mississippi is well over 80% protestant and less than 5% Catholic (and the number of Orthodox Christians in Miss. is apparently so small it’s under 1% and didn’t make the list). Numerous other states in the bible have similar lopsided protestant margins that are around 90% protestant. South Carolina is 92% protestant and 6% Catholic. Tennessee is 87% and 5% Catholic. Apparently you choose to ignore my answer to your post because it confirmed my statements.”
How do you figure that
Mississippi 37% black, only 82% religious, out of that mix 82% Protestant.
South Carolina 30% black, only 80% religious, out of that mix 84% Protestant.
Tenessee 16% black, only 79% religious, out of that mix 64% Protestant.
You did not demonstrate that at all. The statistics you provided are not necessarily connected to your statement. You are conflating YEC types, with so-called *Bible literalists* (which you ought to define), and Protestant.
There are many mainline Protestant churches which not only do not hold to the YEC position, but do not even recognize Biblical authority, much less literal interpretation.
But there is a very SMALL faction within protestantism of "only fundamental protestants who follow a literal interpretation of the King James version of the bible are Chrisitans" mindset (for example, this guy) , and my guess is they think that way because that's the only "Christians" they interact with.
Very small is the best you can do for ONE pastor and who knows what size denomination? You give them too much credit for the non-issue they are.
I was really shocked to learn many protestants think Jesus had brothers and sisters. I had always assumed the vast majority of Christians taught Jesus was an only child.
No, it's Catholics that teach that Jesus was an only child. The Bible doesn't support that. However, it does say something about your exposure to other ways of thinking. You know, the think that you're condemning in others.
You know, your assuming so much about the alleged cloistered lifestyle of others in this country, reveals a lack of touch with reality on your part.
Don't you think that these people don't get out and go to school, shop, go to movies, go out to dinner, go on vacation, have family and relatives who attend different churhces, have telephones, TV's, computers, read books?
Your attitude is coming across are very condsending.
Yes, what she said was hate.
But what you did wasn't.
OK, from the link.....SECOND paragraph, mind you....
I recently ran across some material that bears directly on this question. In this article I'll outline the construction of eubacterial flagella, it's relationship to other systems, and end with a speculative scenario for the evolution of eubacterial flagella
Could you provide something a little more substantial with which to try to shoot down ID and IC?
Thanks for clearing that up.
the patriot, of course.
The guy who posted, not so much. True or not, I heard that he was either a transgendered or a cross-dresser, deduced from the things he said.
If you have anything to refute the Protoevangelium of James, in the words of an irritating frequent poster, prove it!
Now, the "fundies" ~ I'm simply after returning the word to its normal usage pre-Scopes.
Regarding Unitate church affairs, we have one up the way right off the Beltway near Gallows Road. Have known several people there over the years ~ one of them was the "big boss" for a while, and then there was this woman who had to have been the most beautiful Ukrainian on Earth ~ and I suspect you know exactly who I'm referring to.
You live in a state that is 30% Catholic and 40% Protestant.
You need to post the facts about the religious makeup of freerepublic if you have them and the geographical location of those freepers for whom you claim to know their religion and where they live, and who they know, and how they live.
You seem so isolated that you seem to think of Protestant as a single church, and you talk about it as though it is foreign and unknown to you, living in a Protestant nation, you really should get out more.
There is NO alternative to evolution, that is the problem. If they did we could debate it. ID offers no alternative alternative ‘origins’ theory at all(doesnt even try), And Young Earth Creationism sunk with the overloaded Noah’s Ark. (Which is why we have ID now, to avoid that re-debate.) The best ID and creationism could teach is “Things unexplained”
On the other side, evolution needs to be taught with a disclaimer that there is no way to know exactly what happened pre-human recorded history. I admit Atheists love to call evolution a fact, their proof there is no God. And that is a lie.
What does that have to do with YEC? Evolution has nothing to do with it. Besides alot of the deaths that happened 100 years ago could have been prevented with some good old fashioned hygeine as described in the OLD TESTAMENT.
What's IC?
Musgrave referred to it, too, and I didn't know what he meant. It is for this reason that I normally eschew acronyms.
Excuse me it seems your are reading something into my post that was not the topic have a nice day!
Well metmom and ansel, the question then is why would the YEC types here post comments like "Catholics have their services in Latin so the people don't understand what's going on during the service" and "Catholics never use the bible during mass" and "only Catholics pray to Mary", if they're well informed about other kinds of Christians? One freeper even claims his "devout Catholic mother-in-law" never read scripture her whole life until a protestant minister quoted it to her on her death bed. How could anyone with a basic understanding of other denominations make such blatant errors about Catholicism?
Either they never interact with Catholics to get even a basic understanding of other denominations, or they in fact do know Catholics read scripture every Sunday and deliberately choose to lie about it to advance their agenda that Catholics are "not bible believers"
Do you have any other explainations for it?
“This is coming from the guy who believes that Noah abandoned dinosaurs, and that’s why they have gone extinct?”
Lol if you are going to ridicule someone’s beliefs, you should at least know what they believe.
