I live in a region of the country that is over 60% Catholic

You live in a state that is 30% Catholic and 40% Protestant.

You need to post the facts about the religious makeup of freerepublic if you have them and the geographical location of those freepers for whom you claim to know their religion and where they live, and who they know, and how they live.

You seem so isolated that you seem to think of Protestant as a single church, and you talk about it as though it is foreign and unknown to you, living in a Protestant nation, you really should get out more.

I live in a township that is about 60% Catholic. The southwest Chicago area has a much higher percentage of Catholics than Illinois as a whole. My town has no less than three Catholics congregations, each with its own church and school, and a fourth one that borders the town across the street. My "local region" is overwhemingly Catholic. If my "local region" was way down in southern Illinois near the KY border, it would likely be a lopsided amount of protestants.

Many southern states like Texas have "local regions" where there are plenty of Catholics, and other communities where the neighbors are 80% protestant. South Carolina as a whole may be 70% protestant, though I'm sure many communities are closer to 90% protestant.

Or do you think I drive 8 hours each day through Illinois so the people I encounter on a regular basis are representative of the entire "religious makeup" of my state?

Ansel, I have explained to you about 50 times now that the YEC's I am speaking of are a small faction WITHIN protestant America, and are NOT representative of protestants in the U.S. as a whole. Apparently at this point you are just deliberately lying about my opinions or simply ignoring the parts you don't want to hear. There is a vast variety of protestant culture in the U.S. and the only thing they have in common is they don't follow the Pope. They range from having beliefs virutally identical to Catholics (like traditional Anglo-Catholic Anglicians) and being so completely different from Catholics that the ONLY trait they share is a belief that Jesus is their savior.

Since you want to ignore my posts if they don't gel with your stereotypes, I'm through talking with you. Ping me again if you ever want to discuss facts or reply to the actual content of what I posted instead of what you'd like to pretend I said.
