Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.
We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.
We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.
Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.
For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.
And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.
FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.
And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.
Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.
FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.
We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.
Keep your powder dry.
Those who created our country the Founding Fathers and Mothers understood that there is a divine order which transcends the human order. They saw the state, in fact, as a form of moral order and felt that the bedrock of moral order is religion ... Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

It is easy to find and show the Christian churches views on most things like that, but when it comes to finding simple, straight forward answers from Mormonism, it gets very complex and difficult, the whole “milk before meat” thing.
It would be fair to say that I don’t know every much about what Mormons believe!
Amen to that. I guess my new mobster name is “The Fringe”.
So here is my PERSONAL answer: (1) I am a conservative (a conservative libertarian breed). I am also a scientist, working in the field of biomedical research. The scientific community is MOSTLY Leftist. In natural sciences this is not as bad as in humanities, but still a conservative PhD is a rare phenomenon. The life of a scientist who also happens to be a conservative is hard enough even without being associated with pseudoscience. (2) As a Christian I also believe that the YEC, in addition to being blasphemous, hurts Christianity in practical terms. Just as the analogous beliefs (geocentrism) hurt the Catholic Church several hundred years ago. If parts of the creed can be undermined (and 'creation science' falls apart easily), then how credible is the rest?
They also must wear funny underwear (supposedly even in the marital bed???).
I’m in the same boat as you, although I’m not a scientist (I do have a doctorate, however). I did take 10 months off work to study the Bible with a group closely associated with the Assembly of God, and I was about the only non-YEC’er (as well as being the only one who didn’t speak in tongues). You can guess why they said I didn’t speak in tongues. However, I studied the Bible so thoroughly that everyone came to me with their Biblical questions. Indeed, I spent so much time in the Word that a counselor suggested that I should spend less time reading the Bible and more time “praising” God in during services (rather than prayer). Quite surprising. Anyway, I digress and I’m posting only to show my agreement with your comments.
I did not call you a Darwinist, I called you an evolutionist. I also said implicitly that believing in evolution does not mean that you can not be a Christian or a conservative. No one else said that either.
Fields of science do work together agreed. However, it isn’t evidence from these fields that supports evolution; it is the interpretation of the evidence that is interpreted in a specific way to support evolution. Creationists do this as well. Every person’s worldview will color the evidence they see.
I got here just before they all left and started Darwin Central, in order to discuss "real science". They keep coming back here, obviously to attack believers since they are free to discuss "real science" on their own site. They probably bore each other to death
What kind of hole?
yes, and comes complete with it's very own creation myths, which no one is allowed to question
Okay I understand that because I feel as well that a belief in evolution hurts the church and especially the teaching of sin and death and a need for a Saviour.
The question was really why do you take MY beliefs on the subject so personally?
Again I understand what evolution teaches. I find it lacking convincing evidence as do many people both Christian and non, both scientists and laymen.
You try to discredit anyone who questions evolution as anti/pseudo science. Alot of people believe evolution is anti/pseudo science. I have not tried to discredit you as anti science because I think your belief is wrong. I think your belief is wrong in this one area. There is a difference in operational science and historical science. Maybe you won’t stop your personal attacks until you realize this. Maybe until you realize that we are smart, well read even scientific people who have studied evolution and come away with a different view than yours.
You sir are intolerant of any view on this than yours. And THAT is the problem.
You know you’re over the target when you’re taking flack. Let them eat cake.
Thanks for pinging me.
perception, not perceptioin, of course
I aint wearin no dress, man!
What’s that old adage?
I dont drink, swear, or dancin do
Nor do I hang with those that do
Sumthin like that. )
I’m Christian but we have many Jewish FReepers as well as many of other faiths and many non-believers as well. I’ll think better of Muslims when they completely denounce terrorism and Jihad as a solution to their problems and go after the Islamic murderers themselves.
Other than that, all I’m saying is that I truly believe that America was founded on the Truth that all men are created equal by their Creator and endowed with certain unalienable INDIVIDUAL rights, including the rights to Life, Liberty, pursuit of happiness, property, freedom, self-defense, self-government, etc, etc, etc, and that it is our right and duty to defend these rights from government intrusion. I think this sets our free republic apart from every other country ever established and that it is at the very core of conservatism, ie, to secure, defend, preserve and protect the God-given Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
And I’m simply stating that God will not be run off the pages of FR by government, liberals, RINOs, atheists, evolutionists, Darwinists, scientists, or the ACLU! FR is private property and the godless liberal enemies of Liberty be damned.
God is here to stay.
That is all.
If reunited with his beloved daughter Annie, he probably is.
Some of us just don’t have enough faith to believe in Evolution or Global Warming.
Pray for America and Gov Palin
