The underwear are called “Garments” or “Garments of the Holy Priesthood”. They are to be worn all the time, even to bed, and under the bra (for women) and panties/underwear.

However about 20-25 years ago, new guidelines came out from SLC that stated garments could be removed as necessary for sporting activities (like pro basketball players) and for sex.

However, many of the older members still wear them even for sex.
