Was it me or did the refs give Texas a second chance after Texas QB Colt McCoy ran a play trailing by two points with only six seconds left, rolled out and threw the ball away and out of bounds as the clock ticked down to 0.00 and then the referee`s whistle blew.
Texas coach Mack Brown demanded an extra second to kick a field goal and the officials obliged him. Texas kicked the field goal and won the game.
I only saw the reply once with audio and clearly heard the official`s whistle blow after the clock showed 0.00 on the clock.
Nebraska got screwed.
My thought turned to the LSU- Ole Miss debacle immediately. Difference is that Miles blew it and lost the game for LSU but Texas was able to get the kick off and won. Don’t know anything about Mack Brown but LSU sure didn’t get their 3 million bucks worth with Miles performance.
Right, that’s why it’s funny how we know exactly when the last play should have stopped, but no idea if the clock STARTED at the right time on the play, nor can they really review that. Or when it stopped on the previous play.
OF course, Nebraska probably wouldn’t have needed help at the end if they had just not kicked the ball out of bounds on the kickoff.
I didn’t see the Reply, but I saw the Replay, and the ball hit the ground out of bounds, with one second on the clock.
Colt let that one get a little too close but a second is a second.
Longhorns won that one. Hook’em!

The fix was in with the early strange interference calls.
That game just about wore me out, and I was in my living room!!
Multiple replays showed clearly that TX still had 1 second left. It was a good call...and I went to Kansas State.
Nebraska could have helped their cause if they had an offense.
It was the correct call....now Texas can roll over the tide in the NC game.....Colt can finally win his Heisman...and Shipley the Biletnikoff award...beautiful.
LOL - me too! Long game. Never seen so many flags thrown in one game.
I think the bigger injustice will be Suh's not getting into the top three or even five Heisman finalists. One columnist writes,
Suh finished with a Big 12 Championship game-record 4½ sacks. He made 12 tackles, including seven for losses. He owned the field, and he made Texass drive for the national title seem like a subplot. . . .
Suh made the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year look like a high school quarterback at times and tossed Longhorns around like so many little kids. He disrupted McCoy on nearly every play and humbled the Texas offensive line. The Blackshirts had nine sacks, 18 tackles for loss and forced a ton of three-and-outs against a team that will be playing for the national championship in January.
Not to mention Global Warming...
Might as well add the evil SUV’s to the list!!:)
If anyone wants to claim that Texas’ final three points were bogus, keep in mind that Nebraska’s first three points were also bogus. Texas had Nebraska stopped on fourth down. Both sideline officials ran in at the same spot to spot the ball and it was measured short. Then, somehow, the instant replay ref overruled them and Nebraska was handed a gift first down that led to a FG. So, IMO, Texas won 10-9.
>In football....the clock is stopped when the referee blows a play dead....not at the moment of a dead ball (which basketball does). The ref did not blow the play dead until the clock ran out<
But ....
a. The replay official and his crew shall review every play of a game. He
may stop a game at any time before the ball is next legally put in play
(Exception: Rule 12-3-3-k) whenever he believes that:
1. There is reasonable evidence to believe an error was made in the
initial on-field ruling.
2. The play is reviewable.
3. Any reversal of an on-field ruling, which would result from
indisputable video evidence, would have a direct, competitive impact
on the game.
To put my reply in the most polite term I can muster...
...Bull Poop!
Mack Brown is in fact as stupid as “less smiles” he just has more fuds to pay off the zebras in charge of the game.
NU beat the eleven from Texas, they lost because of the refs.
Tuck Fexas!
Except
1. BAMA will beat Texas
2. The votes will be cast based on this weekends performances. 184 yds passing and three interceptions won't do it.
BINGO!.....We have a Winner!
