In the film, "The Day After Tomorrow," the world gets gripped in ice within the span of just a few weeks. Now research now suggests an eerily similar event might indeed have occurred in the past.
Looking ahead to the future, there is no reason why such a freeze shouldn't happen again and in ironic fashion it could be precipitated if ongoing changes in climate force the Greenland ice sheet to suddenly melt, scientists say.
Starting roughly 12,800 years ago, the Northern Hemisphere was gripped by a chill that lasted some 1,300 years. Known by scientists as the Younger Dryas and nicknamed the"Big Freeze," geological evidence suggests it was brought on when a vast pulse of fresh water a greater volume than all of North America's Great Lakes combined poured into the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.

The earth will see whatever God sends it. Man is not in charge.
The great majority of the past 2.5 million years of Earth’s history have been ice age, punctuated by roughly 10,000 year interglacial (warm) periods about every 100,000 years. There is nothing to indicate that this cycle has been broken. The last ice age ended over 10,000 years ago.
You don’t have to be a climate “Scientist” to do that math.
Over 100 icebergs drifting to N.Zealand: official

SYDNEY (AFP) More than 100, and possibly hundreds, of Antarctic icebergs are floating towards New Zealand in a rare event which has prompted a shipping warning, officials said on Monday.
An Australian Antarctic Division glaciologist said the ice chunks, spotted by satellite photography, had passed the Auckland Islands and were heading towards the main South Island, about 450 kilometres (280 miles) northeast.
Scientist Neal Young said more than 100 icebergs — some measuring more than 200 metres (650 feet) across — were seen in just one cluster, indicating there could be hundreds more.
He said they were the remains of a massive ice floe which split from the Antarctic as sea and air temperatures rise due to global warming.
He said large numbers of icebergs had not floated this close to New Zealand since 2006, when a number came within 25 kilometres of the coastline — the first such sighting since 1931.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200501/s1277692.htm 2005...oh and this one says since 1948!
“In 30 years of working for NIWA, this is the first time I have recorded sightings of icebergs in New Zealand waters,” Mr Carter said. Previous reportings were in the 1890s, early 1920s, 1930s and in 1948. In 1931 icebergs were seen as far north as near Dunedin in the South Island.”
Hmmm...hasn’t happened since 1931 eh? We discussed this ice floe over on TDLOE when it occurred. Oh the panic then about how much water this cleave would add to the oceans! The sea level rise etc. Only to have reports come out later that it was actually sea ice, sea ice doesn’t cause the ocean levels to rise because it is already accounted for in the displacement of the ice floating on the water. Like ice cubes in a glass.
The sea level doesn’t rise, but the salinity around the antarctic changes. Lower salinity means the faster creation of more ice in the area of decreased salinity. The salty the water water, the less actual ice. The less salty the water, the more ice. Therefore we will have more ice new ice created.
A NEW RECORD FOR ANTARCTIC ICE EXTENT?

This can be seen on the graphic below from the University of Illinois site (Chapman) which is updated daily. The areal coverage is the highest in the satellite record (which began in 1979), just beating out 1995, 2001, 2006 and 2007.
Uh...pesky internet thing for fact checking. Don’t let the alarmists scare you with this one as being so unusual that this falls into to their fraudulent Global Warming doomsday scenario.
Look Ma’, I just created the new “Global Theory of the Polar Ice Cycle,” ain’t it cool!!! (pun intended). No, but seriously do I get to claim the PIC theory as mine?!
Choices, choices...

Where is the modern equivalent of Lake Agassiz that is going to drain into the Atlantic?

These planted articles are getting exponentially more shrill and therefore more unbelievable with each minute closer to “Hopenhagen”. This one in particular is pretty much self-parodic.
I have lived in Michigan for 7 decades, the ice age has been here as long as I can remember...last summer I ran my AC less than 2 dozen times all summer....
Yeah, and monkeys could fly out of my arse tomorrow. Just as likely.
