President Palin: Bush Strategist Thinks It's Possible
The Atlantic ^ | November 24, 2009 | Chris Good and Marc Ambinder

"Like it or not, if Sarah Palin decides to seek our nation's highest office, she has a shot," Matthew Dowd, the chief strategist for the Bush/Cheney '04 campaign, writes in today's Washington Post, before offering Palin a list of advice on how to get there.

Dowd draws a parallel between Palin and Obama, in that each are beloved by members of their own party, and not liked so much by members of the other:

Polls show that Palin's favorability numbers are a mirror image of those of Obama. She is respected and loved by the Republican base, while Democrats despise her. Granted, independent voters have significant reservations about her capability to be president, and this would be a hurdle in the general election. But to win the Republican nomination, Palin needs only to get enough support from the base to win early key states. Already, in nearly every poll today, she has a level of support that makes her a viable primary candidate. Just look at the crowds and the buzz her book tour is drawing.

And it's true: Obama is liked by 88 percent of Demcorats and disliked by 93 percent of Republicans, according to his latest major favorability poll, conducted by Research 2000 for Daily Kos.(continued)

"Like it or not, if Sarah Palin decides to seek our nation's highest office, she has a shot..."

Kind of a funny way for a so-called "Republican" campaign strategist to refer to a possible future Republican presidential candidate, don't you think?

It’s pretty obvious that the Democrat party and it’s media
mouthpieces see Mrs. Palin as a contender, a serious one
or they wouldn’t be expending as many resources trying
to stop her before she has even mentioned running.

At least one “republican strategist” is smart enough to get on-board the Alaskan Express.

Sarah is despised by the Marxist and brain dead yellow dogs because she is right, and the biggest threat to their takeover of America.

I do not want her to run for president in 2012. I think she would do more for the country as a conservative king maker in the near future. She has the power to influence down stream races that will have a much longer lasting effect than if she were the president.

Did this strategist tell Bush that amnesty was a good idea? I sadly dropped Bush after he pushed for amnesty with Juan McCain and Mel “scarface” Martinez and other RINO garbage.

Yes, she can have a huge effect on the down ticket races, as the leader of the Republican Party, candidate for President of The United States.

Why wouldn't she have a shot! Incredible. Sure, Matt, I'm sure she appreciates YOU offering her advice. She doesn't know if she will run, yet.

Liberals have all sorts of stories about this woman that brings out the fear in their followers.

I had the pleasure of correcting a PDS carrier last week. . .he was jobless and did not know what Obama had to do with his situation. He now knows.

Most of us are concerned w/2010 right now.

So is Governor Palin, but that won't stop anyone and everyone from hypothesizing about her running in 2012.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of having to spell out that very obvious observation.

She has already done more for her country - giving them hope of bringing USA back to it's conservative roots. Let others follow in her footsteps, she doesn't need to lead any potential candidates by the hand! Nice (weak) try at suggesting that would be better for our country.

Go Sarah, you are a born leader!

Like it or not, even I’ve “got a shot”. That was some serious endorsement there.

Polls are NOT a mirror image. Obama was at 45% in Rasmussen today and I believe Palin was at 51% in a Rasmussen poll not too long ago. In a recent FOX/Opinion Dynamics poll they were about even at 46% apiece. In Quinippiac Obama was at 43% among Is and in Gallup he was at 44%. Rasmussen, which was the most accurate poll in 2008, has him at 33% among Is. Palin was at 41% among Is in Gallup as of last month, probably up a bit now. Biden was at 32% among Is.

Obama may be higher, on avg, but certainly no mirror image. He has a small advantage. No surprise given he’s the sitting President and she’s an irrelevant quitter who’s bad news for America.

The media keeps pushing this lie about Palin and Independents and her poll #s in general, when the facts show the disparity between her and Obama has narrowed significantly. Especially when you consider how high Obama started the year at and where he is now.

Whatever. It’s actually better if they keep hiding this information because it could cause the dems to get overconfident. They’ll get the wakeup call next year.
