FoxNews : Sarah Palin's Future lies in TV, hosting a talk show, nothing more ... (vanity)

Posted on 11/21/2009 6:36:59 AM PST by Scythian

This is three days in a row now that guests and the hosts on FoxNews have said her future does not lie in politics, but Television, even now talking about her as a replacement for Oprah. This really ticks me off. These people are so condecending of Sarah, and therefore me.

Have you guys been noticing this. FoxNews is continually telling everyone she is not fit to be president, I say BS ...

Why would anyone expect Sarah Palin to have a detailed plan, the CINC doesn’t even have one.

In a way I think I understand what they are trying to say. Sarah Palin is one of the most prominent voices of Conservatism in the political arena - thankfully. But being and exemplary Conservative does not necessarily make a great leader. Reagan’s greatness as a LEADER, not as a Conservative, lay in his ability to essentialize or concretize a problem in a sentence or two. His “lines” are famous: “There you go again..”; “Mr. Gornbachev, tear down this wall”. More than just statements, they carry in the the understanding of his principles. They embody who he is as a man. And these lines, densely packed with the meaning of his principles, were extremely effective in sweeping aside his rivals and critics.

Palin, when she was on Oprah, still gets way too defensive. She allows adversaries to get under her skin all too easily, and thus ends up arguing with idiots like Oprah - whom Palin KNOWS to be an Obama supporter. Arguing with idiots, as Rush rightly points out - is something you never want to do; you never come off looking good. Sarah Palin is extraordinarily popular - but your level of popularity doesn’t automatically equate you to great leadership skills. She often refers to heads of state by strictly their last name - which is just bad protocol for a leader of a nation. WE can do it here on blog posts. But as a leader she needs to refer to them by their title, or by Mr. Mrs or Ms. even if she hates them - instead of calling them by their last name as though they were nothing more than a member of a rival basketball team.

It would behoove her greatly to use her abundant political savvy much more efficiently. In fact someone should help her refine her skills in projecting an aura of Leadership Skills instead of just openly embracing her plentiful Conservative creds. Reagan was not only likable - he made us feel safe from everything. Palin is VERY likable; but I’m not so sure she makes me feel all that safe yet. And if she’s openly chiding the press now, such as referring to Katie Couric publicly as The Perky One, it just makes her look like she’s not above their tawdriness. It’s not about the press; it’s about Palin’s hostility of their treatment of her. The press criticism is going to come regardless of what she does. But her petty comments about Couric can legitimately make you wonder how she’ll deal with a full blown crisis if she gets this worked up about a stupid news reporter.

Palin is obviously taking a huge gamble by challenging the press head on - calling them out as liberal lap dogs. But that can be a double edge sword. We know the MSM has it guns turned only onto Conservative Politicians - all of whom will be far too eager to destroy her. If she’s gonna throw down the gauntlet this way to the press, it will only make her life much harder if she does aspire to be President some day.

I'm wondering if the Fox people got some kind of marching orders.

What marching orders??? Sarah is being featured on every Fox program this week and next. I'm quite certain it is not to destroy her. This segment was done during "Weekend F&F" which is known for silly puff pieces.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was not only speaking of F & F weekends when I made that comment.

Not silly at all. Actually, as the leftists attack Sarah Palin, they are also attacking each and every one of us that support her for saying, thinking and standing for what WE say, think and stand for. If you can’t wrap your mind around that rather obvious concept, I don’t know what to tell ya!

As a TV talk show host, Palin would enjoy both immediate personal financial success and major, lasting influence on national opinion and cultural values. Or, Palin could run for President and get beat up every day with no assurance of victory. It is not anti-Palin to suggest that she might do better for herself and conservatives as a TV talk show host.

Nor was I. Sarah was on Hannity, the Factor and has appeared on Greta’s show a million times. Next week she’s on with the Friends and I’m sure will appear on other shows. So what marching orders were given, I ask?

“I can believe it —probably have their conception of Palin formed by the MSM”

I wouldn’t doubt it. Not everyone is comfortable with a female president, either - even nowadays. I think Sarah is very likeable and you should have seen the excitement at the book signing (it gave me chills and, yes, hope) - but I’m just not certain her destiny is president. In any event, her faith is so strong that I believe God will lead her to where she should be.

I’m only up to page 84 (just got it last night), but a talk show host doesn’t seem to jive with what Sarah stated she is being “pulled” towards.

As I said, I’m only up to page 84, but from what I’ve read, and this is just my opinion, I don’t see talk show host in there.

But only Sarah can answer that one. Personally, I would LOVE her to be the next Madame President (my wishful thinking)!!

Yes - I saw Charles Krauthammer casually dismiss her, saying she’ll never be the nominee & that she doesn’t deserve to be. I’m sure he’ll never say that about Romney, Huckabee or Guiliani.

It’s very condescending, & I think it’s because she’s a woman. I can see already that we’re going to have a problem in 2012. The media is already beginning to pick our candidate for us. We must not allow this to happen again. I blame the Republican party for our loss in 2008 - MUCH more than I blame the Democrat party. I hate them.

"So what marching orders were given, I ask?"

I don't know...that's why I said "I wonder if". I've just noticed some Fox regulars being a bit condescending when it comes to Sarah.

The Oligarchy is quaking in its jack-boots...they are trying to “constructively” move her out of the way...I hope she’s “heavied-up”

And I'd bet Sarah is turning down many offers to appear on MSM networks. She did the Walters' interview, but I bet she's been asked by all of them because they know what a ratings draw she is.

And she's wise to be very selective among the MSM sorts.

It seems all talking heads would like to set Sarah’s agenda.
Sarah has said what she is going to do!

Write a book.....done.
Give speeches.
Support any good conservative 2010 candidate “that would have her”.

Lets not worry about 2012 yet. Lets concentrate on 2010.
With Sarah’s help, conservatives can repeat 1994, or even do better.
