Reagan didn’t drop until his second year in. I believe this is the first time a new president has dropped below 50 percent within a year of his inaugeration. Clinton, btw was on his way up, and was higher than Obama. So was Ford.

The only real competition Obama has is Truman, who fell off a cliff.

Isn’t it pathetic how Gallup’s accompanying story on this poll goes out of its way to repeatedly claim that this should not doom his re-election chances?

Not to mention, they use a very "forgiving" scale on their graph, showing only 20% increments on the vertical scale (70%, 50%, 30%, etc). Nice way to flatten the drop!

exactly!!!

The reporting of these polls on air is pathetic! Even Fox News yesterday when they announced Barry was down to 48 on their poll, the polling girl on Fox said something about averaging the polls, and really it was right in line with other Presidents (I paraphrase)

Even 49% is padded, way to high. Its more likely in the low 30% range.

And that low thirty range is also a measure of the ill informed. Once the facts about Obama's unknown background are understood, the approval rating will be even lower.

No kidding.

Gallup's "polling data" is second only to Kim Jong Il's "polling data" in terms of honesty and fairness.

And this isn't even registered voters...much less LIKELY voters.

Dims have to be very, very nervous.

Usually, the non-registered voter picks dims. That skews the numbers of "all Americans" toward dims...and makes GOP Presidents look worse then they really are.

But that cuts two ways and makes the Dim President look better.

Figure an 8 point swing from GOP to dim.

Reagan's numbers were low the first year of his presidency because the entire country was in the grips of the Carter recession. And it wasn't until later 1983 that the effect of the Reagan tax cuts began to kick in. The rest is history -- sustained growth for the rest of Reagan's presidency and a landslide re-election victory over Mondale.

In this instant case, there's no happy ending coming because Obama is massivly raising taxes and spending like a drunken sailor. And government created jobs don't produce revenues.

On behalf of drunken sailors everywhere, please stop making insulting comparisons with Barak Obama. Thank you.

LOL ‘Communist Poll’?

That’s pretty funny, though I’m sure you didn’t mean it to be. I had a communist Burrito for dinner today.

Let us speak the truth here...

At the similar point in Reagan's presidency, he was fighting off the effects of the Carter-induced recession (which was a serious one).

At this point in Obama’s presidency, he is fighting off the effects of the “Bush-induced” recession (which is a serious one).

Reagan had to wait another year for the effects of his “recovery plan” to kick in (and we all know how that one worked out).

Obama is waiting to see the effects of his “recovery plan”, for however long that may take. But in a manner akin to Reagan's recovery and subsequent boom, the historical record gives clear signs as to what to expect with Obama’s economic policies.

Any similarity ends there, and I leave it you out there to determine what history will show about Obama's recovery.

Shouldn't be too difficult!

CA....

Why do we even care what the left thinks of Reagan or Ford or any other Republican/Conservative?

The left are enemies of this country; they are either so filled with hate for the greatest country on earth they will do anything to destroy it or they are so stupid and easily led by the nose, Obama could send them an Kenyan Bankers Email chain letter promising 500 million and they’d fall for it.

All that matters is that thinking Americans are beginning to realize how destructive Obama is and how pathetic he is of a leader.

The left can try and sugar coat it all they want. There’s an old saying, you can’t pick a turd up by a clean end. True Americans realize we have a piece of it in the White House and no pretty packaging is going to make it look any better.

We need to find this generations Reagan and after that President, whomever he or she is, cleans up the utter and complete shambles we’ll be in by 2012, they left will hate that person too.

There is no reason in the world for obama to have an approval rating above 25%. This country stinks.
