AT THE END OF THE DAY, DIVERSITY HAS JUMPED THE SHARK, HORRIFICALLY
November 18, 2009
It cannot be said often enough that the chief of staff of the United States Army, Gen. George Casey, responded to a massacre of 13 Americans in which the suspect is a Muslim by saying: "Our diversity ... is a strength."
As long as the general has brought it up: Never in recorded history has diversity been anything but a problem. Look at Ireland with its Protestant and Catholic populations, Canada with its French and English populations, Israel with its Jewish and Palestinian populations.
Or consider the warring factions in India, Sri Lanka, China, Iraq, Czechoslovakia (until it happily split up), the Balkans and Chechnya. Also look at the festering hotbeds of tribal warfare -- I mean the beautiful mosaics -- in Third World hellholes like Afghanistan, Rwanda and South Central, L.A.
"Diversity" is a difficulty to be overcome, not an advantage to be sought. True, America does a better job than most at accommodating a diverse population. We also do a better job at curing cancer and containing pollution. But no one goes around mindlessly exclaiming: "Cancer is a strength!" "Pollution is our greatest asset!"
By contrast, the canard "diversity is a strength" has now replaced "at the end of the day," "skin in the game," "blood and treasure," "jumped the shark," "boots on the ground," "horrific" (whatever happened to the perfectly good word "horrible"?), "not so much," "I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here," and "that went well," as America's most irritating cliche.
We should start making up other nonsense mantras along the lines of "diversity is a strength" and mindlessly repeating them until they catch on, too.
Next time you're at a cocktail party, just start saying, "Chocolate pudding is dramatic irony" from time to time. Eventually other people will start saying it, without anyone bothering to consider whether it makes sense. Then we'll do another one: "Nicolas Cage is a two-cycle engine."
Before you know it, liberals will react to news of a mass murder by muttering, "Well, you know what they say: Nicolas Cage is a two-cycle engine," while everyone nods in agreement.
Except mere nonsense makes more sense than "diversity is a strength."
If Gen. Casey's wildly inappropriate use of this lunatic cliche in the aftermath of the Fort Hood massacre doesn't kill it, nothing will.
Among the worst aspects of America's "diversity" is that liberals' reaction to a heterogeneous population is to create a pecking order based on alleged victimhood -- as described in electrifying detail in my book, "Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America."
In modern America, the guilty are sanctified, while the innocent never stop paying -- including with their lives, as they did at Fort Hood last week. Points are awarded to aspiring victims for angry self-righteousness, acts of violence and general unpleasantness.

Here is video of Geraldo Rivera talking with Ann Coulter, Al Sharpton, and Kimberly Guilfoyle about Sarah Palin and her new book "Going Rogue."
Geraldo said "Sarah Palin is definitely getting the last laugh" with her book, which comes out November 17 and is already a huge bestseller.
Al Sharpton said Palin's reimergence "helps the Democrats" because he does not think she is a "substantive person," and he does not think most Americans "take her seriously."
Ann Coulter said Democrats said the same thing about Ronald Reagan. She also pointed out how the media has covered Palin's children as compared to other children of public figures who have had difficulty.
Coulter said the media covers the "white trash" Levi Johnston as if he "invented the cure for cancer." . . . (VIDEO)

Ann, like so many others, can’t bring herself to believe that Soros and company could manufacture Obama’s eligibility and get away with it — the sheer monstrosity of the crime shorts out in their minds both reason and common sense. That he will not produce his birth certificate is all the evidence anyone should require.
Buy one of her books? NEVER AGAIN!
You are indicative of why Conservatives cannot gain political traction. Your expectation of ideological purity and 100% consensus is unrealistic. That you bring this up on a totally unrelated article serves what purpose? Do you agree with what she wrote in this instance or not? Is the grudge you bear so deep that no other issue can penetrate your obstinacy?
I’ve seen so-called Conservatives do this so many times it sickens me. Your grievance may be legitimate, but is it appropriate to dismiss Coulter as you do? I am adamant about abortion and I make no apologies for it. I might condemn a Conservative that is for abortion, but it doesn’t mean I ostracize them on every other issue where we agree. But abortion and Obama’s birth certificate are worlds apart. If Coulter did what you said, I disagree with her but there is no way I will outright dismiss her because of that.
And while I’m at it, I’m equally sick of smart asses whose comments are childish attempts at one-upsmanship. You haven’t done that, but I’ve seen many here who do. If they are so smart, why don’t they contribute something constructive rather than indulge there egos to prove just what clever little minds they have?
I think the best remark I’ve seen on this matter was on a graphic someone posted - “I dare General Casey to repeat his remarks after the shooting at the funeral.”
He deserves to be dishonorably discharged for his conduct.
Ann did a great job of slandering those with questions about Obamas eligibility.Sigh.Personally, I WILL NEVER BUY ONE OF HER BOOKS AGAIN!
We have had this conversation before. :(Let's just say that in any war, your resources are finite -- so that you cannot fight EVERYWHERE you might like to, at every possible opportunity.
So, a wise warrior has to choose which battles to fight, and focus their attack where it will do the MOST good.
And, apparently, Ann has chosen not to fight THIS battle (Birth Certifigate) at this time.
Perhaps she has HIGHER priorities. This administration is such a "target rich" environment, it seems that you could support Ann in the areas where you DO agree with her, right?
As I pointed out in a previous post, Ann could have kept silent like most of the other conservative yappers, or she could have respectfully explained why she disagreed with those who question Obama’s eligibility.
No, no, no, Ann called those defending the Constitution CRANKS and used the KKK to imply that they were few in number.
Sorry...But that is just too much!
Ann had two other options besides INSULTING the very people who buy her books. She could have:
1) Kept silent. Most of the conservative yappers have ( who knows why they are doing this?)
2) Respectfully, laid out her argument as to why Obama is a natural born citizen.
Instead, She called the very people who buy her books CRANKS and used the KKK to make her point. This was ENTIRELY UNNECESSARY!

Good luck with THAT one! :o)
Whose words are whose? I have not read what she wrote but whether she said it exactly as you say she did doesn't matter. If she thinks I'm a crank on that issue, so be it. If I am few in number like the KKK, I could care less what comparison she might use. I'll make a written rebuke and the matter is over. That she didn't keep silent is not going bother me as much as it bothered her to say what she felt she had to say.
Coulter is talented, witty, sharp minded and a tremendous asset to Conservatism. I'll not throw her overboard because she says what she believes. As long as what she believes fits the 80-20 rule, I'd be foolish to do so.
1) Remain silent about Obama’s eligibility. Ann is an attorney and attorney DO know how to keep silent.
2)Or..Respectfully explain why she believes Obama is a natural born citizen.
Instead she called those who disagree with her CRANKS and used the KKK to imply that they are few in number ( which they aren't, by the way.)
Anne could have done a lot better there, agreed.
But please don’t make the perfect the enemy of the good. She is right roughly 97% of the time, and she has done more for Conservatism than most of us will achieve in a lifetime.
White Males are the only people in America that is ok to discriminate against. Queen Ann Rox!
Pray for America’s Freedom
Amen!
try telling that to our resident fool's chorus here
This is one of the best, and certainly one of Ann’s best, articles about a pernicious part of contemporary culture. She has taken a topic that has been worked over and discussed for years and attacked it with fresh and humorous sensibility. Great!
As for number 2, she has in her column specifically mentioned various conservative news media such as Fox News, The American Spectator, Human Events, National Review and Sweetness & Light that believe Obama was born in this country. She even posted a link once to either an American Spectator or a National Review article that specifically detailed why they believe Obama was born in this country. This might not be good enough for you, but it was good enough for Ann, and I don't see why it wouldn't be. Why are you more knowledgable than the conservative media she mentioned?
As for her cranks and KKK comment, you're just being pathetic. You're like a liberal who goes on and on about how Ann Coulter is soooo mean and boo hoo hoo and couldn't she have made her points in a nicer fashion. I bet, like the liberals, you also want everyone to boycott her--it's probably why you're constantly going on and on about this one issue on almost every single Ann Coulter thread at FreeRepublic. It's not enough that you don't like her, but you want everyone else to not like her, too. Just like a liberal.

I thought everybody in the military was “GREEN”!
Cheers!
