"Republican Dede Scozzafava today endorsed Democrat Bill Owens, her former opponent, in Tuesday's election to fill the North Country congressional seat formerly held by John McHugh.
Scozzafava suspended her campaign for the 23rd District seat Saturday, citing weak poll numbers and inadequate campaign funds.
In a statement released this afternoon, she called Owens ''an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York.''"

I want to add Lugar to your RINO list.
The trick here is that we don’t want RINOs in charge but we still need their votes and support.
We need new leadership and a redefinition of what it means to be a Republican that is viewed as successful and (most) everyone can get behind.
Ja. Zere must be nein deviation from zere party lines! All who dare to disagree vill be SHOT!!! Heil Palin!
(as an aside, I actually like Palin and think she is a great hope for the future. I’d just prefer it if we could persuade everyone to see that, rather than shut them up to win).
Dont worry, you werent alone in thinking that...
There can be no taking care of the RATs until the LOG is removed from the GOP's very own eye first. The GOP as it stands today will never be able to do so no matter what kind of majority either party has. The DEMs can not be contained and brought into check until the Liberals in the GOP are first removed from office and the party. The GOP got out of control to start with because of voters party loyalties. The GOP elected no longer feared voter wrath and did as they pleased. If they got worried they started the vote for RINO's or else a DEM will win crap and got party lackey's to help join in the chorus at election time. I'm over it and their scare tactics. They destroyed the GOP within two years of gaining the 1994 election majority. The DEMs could not have done the damage of destroying the GOP themselves. The GOP did it alone by allowing Liberals to take control in the party for sake of wins and sake of a fictional GOP majority that never existed to start with.
There has been but one Senate Majority Leader since the 1960's and he finally died a couple months ago. Lott, Dole, and the rest like Frist asked how high when Teddy said jump.
I want to see some politically crossbred/inbred with Liberal Democrats RINOPHANTS booted from office and replaced with either Conservative Independents or True Conservative by record GOP or even a useful Conservative DEM will do in the mean time if thats what it takes to get Liberals out of the GOP. Either this gets fixed fast or the party Whigs into the history books. At this point I'm open to either option but not voting for Liberals of any party.
W was the symptom of a huge problem in the GOP that should have been dealt with early on. But the illness in the GOP was there before him. For example how in the world did Bill Clinton continue to gut the military under a Two House GOP Majority? Gutted to the point that following 9/11 barely eight months later two aircraft carriers failed to get underway for a national emergency deployment due to maintenance issues that should have been done in the yards. Not even Carter let things get to that point. Actually the military was on the Post Nam mend when Reagan took office. Or at least Navy wise it was. A lot of changes happened and a lot of it was ending bad policies that Rummy enacted under Ford like the 31 day AWOL then instant civilian issue causing a high desertion rate in peacetime of all things. I know quite a few persons I went to school with who are today walking around with General Discharges from that era. It ended in about early 1978.
How could there be Contract with America one year and Bob Dole, Libby, Susie and Christie all on stage the next year at the 2006 convention selling us out? That paved the way for W. Whether Republicans want to hear this or not too bad because it's the truth. George W Bush helped pave the way for Barack Obama to come to power. Worse yet George W Bush and a GOP Majority left Obama with Executive Powers never intended for the office of POTUS as well as new agencies created likewise from the Bush era. Republicans who sat silent and said nothing against many of Bush's horrid policies for eight solid years must take their share of the blame in this as much as the DEMs.
I'm curious. Was there even one of the ten GOP House Managers left in office from the Clinton impeachment when W left office? A lot of good Conservative Republicans got took to the cleaners in that. Two of those congressmen were from Tennessee. Yet in here some think there was never a finer senator than Ted Stevens? The mans comments at the senate trial to Henry Hyde warranted a removal from office or at the very least booted out next election cycle. How ironic in what finally got him out of office.
>> Original Title: Scozzafava endorses Owens <<
Yep, looks like the Mods are taking the day off!
Your pic says it all. (By the way, it’s from an interesting web site.)
>> The only credible challenger Ive heard of at this point is an ex-congressman who lost his seat to a Democrat <<
J. D. Hayworth?
If he couldn’t even hold his Congressional seat, how does he stand a chance against McCain?
If I were in JD’s shoes, I think I’d just eschew public office and work on getting a national talkradio gig.
(He is in fact an ex-radio guy. Comes across a lot like Rush L, altho’ without fully equivalent brainpower.)
>> We should choose our battles carefully, not go off half-cocked on a slash & burn rampage all at once. <<
Oh, c’mon! The latter is a lot more fun than the hard work you’ve suggested. Patience be damned. We need to destroy the village in order to save it! </s>
Don’t forget to send back every RNC donation request. Pledge ZERO dollars and write on the pledge card in big, red letters: “No money to the RNC until you support conservative candidates.” The beauty of this is that when you send it back in their envelope, they have to pay the postage when they receive it. That means your donation will actually amount to -$0.44. If everyone does this, they will lose quite a bit of money on these solicitations. Since (no) money talks, perhaps one day they will listen.
Interesting that you name Bob Bennett; there is an ad running against Issue 3 in Ohio (gambling) that states that Bob Bennett, who brought Ohio Bob Taft, is behind the gambling. I thought that was interesting.
An infiltrator.
LET THE 21ST-CENTURY CONSERVATIVE REVOLUTION BEGIN!!!

How about 10 years of hard kicks in the nards?
I wouldn't be so sure. He stills gets alot of mileage out of his "Hanoi Hilton" residency.
And Dede’s husband is a Dem union boss who has been in negotiations with DNC for her to switch parties. The fix was in a long time ago.
“How about 10 years of hard kicks in the nards?”
OK, you sold me ;-)
