Media Release
WATERTOWN, N.Y., November 1, 2009 Doug Hoffman the Conservative candidate for Congress in New Yorks 23rd District today received the endorsement of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Rudy Giuliani said: On Tuesday, the voters of the North Country have a very clear choice when they cast their vote for Congress. Its a choice between a tax and spend Nancy Pelosi Democrat and a common sense conservative Republican named Doug Hoffman.
Doug Hoffman has what it takes to be a great Congressman. Hes not a professional politician; hes a private citizen, and a successful small businessman. Hes somebody who cares about his community and wants to give something back. As a CPA, Doug knows the toll that high taxes and the ever growing deficit are having on this nation and its people. He understands that we must cut spending and cut taxes if we want to get our economy moving again. As the father of a decorated State Trooper, who was shot in the line of duty, he understands the need to be tough with those who threaten us; whether they are career criminals on our streets or terrorists who want to destroy the freedoms we cherish. In Congress, he will be a vocal advocate for smaller government, less red tape and a government that works for the taxpayer, not against them. On election day, please cast your vote for Doug Hoffman hes the type of Congressman America needs.
Hahahahaha! Look at all the Johnny-come-latelys jumpin’ in for Hoffman after Sarah Palin. Oh, but she’s doesn’t have any influence... ROTFL!!
Gonna be a tough fight.
Good NY mayor....may be good NY governor. Still not a conservative.
This is great news. Some may want to call Guiliani a Johnny-Come-Lately to the Hoffman camp, but this could easily blow the Scozzafava endorsement off of the headlines.
To me it’s a hint that he intends to run for governor after all.
Hopefully this will blast crybaby Dedes endrosement off the headlines.
Woo hoo!! The moderates, er RINOs are being whiplashed!!
agreed. Hopefully the timing of Giliani’s endorsement will overcome, at least partially, the crybaby’s Dem endrosement.
I agree. Although it would have been better to have this sooner, it takes some of steam from the diablo Scozzafava.
Are you interested in having Hoffman win?
Just curious. Because if you ARE interested in having the conservative win, then Rudy's endorsement in the state of NY is a good thing.
Considering the stunt that Dede pulled this is good news. We need all the help we can get to put Doug Hoffman over the top.
Way to go out on a limb Rudy L0L!
That would be a good job for him, but not POTUS
Hopefully the GOP will realize that either:
a) social conservatives are nominated, or
b) social conservatives will run against any GOP social liberal nominated
Intriguing that Giuliani never endorsed Scozzafava...magritte
Hey! If he can bring in the RINO vote, so much the better. RINOs voting for conservatives works much better than conservatives holding their noses and voting for RINOs.
Exactly.
I'm guilty of being somewhat more tolerant of RINOs than others here -- if they know their place. And that place is in liberal states or district where there's no hope of electing a conservative. I was delighted at Rudy's tenure as NYC mayor, and would welcome his candidacy for NY governor (which of course is much more liberal as a whole than is NY 23), but I worked against his presidential run, and would again in the unlikely event of a repeat.
